Complete Win1010 Update History - 1998-2013
Version 3.5 - June 17, 2013 - CURRENT
Added JT65 to the list of Modes. Extended the
capacity of the 070 and EPC databases to 30000 records.
The Default mode should be set-up before the contest
starts. In case, it is forgotten and all the modes are wrong or a portion of them are
wrong, a new routine was written and is activated by hitting ALT and 'G' key to edit all
the modes at one time. The ALT-G combination will list all the available modes and the
next popup will ask you which mode to change to. The next two popups will ask you the
starting record number to change and the ending number. The contest file should be loaded
to run this routine.
Added option to make an ASCII file for emailing
applications for most of the Award Applications. Updated the DXCC Award. Added ASCII
output to the Mobile Award and fixed the 25 limit upgrade to the 100 level. Working with
the DX Awards Manager Mike, N5MT, the CTY_AZ95.TXT file was updated and several of the
popup boxes to choose the country for a prefix that covers more than one country.
In case a contest was exported to the Daily Log and
had all the modes wrong, a new routine was written to change the modes and corresponding
RST values of a range of records in the Daily Log. A backup of your default Daily Log
should be made 'just in case'. This routine is activated by hitting the ALT and 'I' key.
The 'I' is the 'eye' letter not the number one. The Daily Log does not have to be running
to use this routine. After running the routine, if the Daily Log is running, you will need
to hit the REF key to refresh the display with the changes. Added the mode in previous
contacts to the Log Archive and County Hunter display in the small info windows when a
call is entered into the Daily Log.
Version 3.4b - October 24, 2012
Added the Win1010 User's 10X and VP
number to the blue heading bar at the top of the Certificate Chaser, Contest, and Daiily
Log programs as per an users request. This is for us that cannot remember numbers.
Added a list of Club Calls and Trustees that was
provided by Daryl, N5SCA. Daryl is going to maintain the list, so email Daryl with any
additions or corrections. The list is displayed by clicking the new red 'Clubs' button.
The 'Daily' screen was moved to get to the new 'Clubs' button and was not moved back. This
was fixed and the date of the V3.4b was changed to October 25, 2012.
The red OM/XYL label was giving wrong info in some
cases. The OM/XYL search routine for the CoHunter actually was using the same code as in
the Daily Log OM/XYL routine. If the XYL was also in the Daily Log, then it worked as it
should. Instead of searching the County Hunter file for a match, the Daily Log file was
being searched. This was fixed. On all Award Applications in the ASCII format, the BAR
number was added to the filename.
Fixed F8 Routine case where two entries in Daily
Log were the same and a new Prefix. Both would be exported to the CoHunter. This would
happen if you logged the station also for your club station. Added filter routine for ADIF
output that was used for the ASCII output in Version 3.4a. Added routine to detect a 10X
number that was being used in the Anniversary Contest. For 2012 the number is 50. It will
change every year. After the ENTER key is hit after the 10X field, if it is an Anniversary
number, then the black 10X label will turn red and will read 10X - ANV. Also a line wiil
be added to the small Info windows to reflect an Anniversary number.
Version 3.4a - October 6, 2011
As requested by a Win1010 user, an optional filter was added to the Daily Log Print
Menu under item #2. If desired, the exported records can be filtered by a word in the MISC
field. For Example, if your club works the same station that you worked and is entered
into the Daily Log with the 'Worked by Club' in the MISC field, then you can filter by the
word 'Club' and all records with 'Club' in the MIsc field will be skipped when creating
the ASCII file. Case of the filter word does not matter. Fixed an issue that prevented a
DX station without a 1010 number or not on 10 Meters from being filed.
The Demo 25 QSO limit has been removed for free use of the Contest Program during the 2011
1010 Sprint Contest.
Version 3.4 - August 8, 2011
Added two SK Displays to the Database Utility Menu. One
list sorted by 10X number and the other sorted by callsigns. In the 'Update Databases'
routine, the Unzipper program used was not compatible with Windows 7 64 bit version.
However, it was compatible with the 32 bit version. A newer 64 bit Win7 compatible version
has been found and is now being used to unzip the databases and FCC files from the web
A ramdom problem happened whenever the Certificate Chaser (CC) indicator in the County
Hunter was updated to 'Y' for a new Certificate Chaser. On some computers and O/S, this
could cause a runtime error #63. This was addressed by including an error handler routine
that reports the error, but allows the program to continue without crashing. The routine
to update the CC indicator also was by-passed. If the CC indicator is desired to be
updated to a 'Y', then it can be manually edited in the County Hunter. The red button #10
Backup routine was modified to use the new Zipper program that is Windows 7 64 bit
compatible. Added routine to find correct call in CoHunter for short calls. For Example:
if KK4AA was entered into the CC, the CH was searched for KK4AA, but in a rare case it ran
across KK4AAA first and used that info. Added a length checking routine to make sure both
calls are same length. The font was changed to Arial on several labels, text boxes and
buttons in the Certificate Chaser and ASCII import routine. The Arial font makes for a
smoother display with less jagged stairsteps.
Some calls have two 10X numbers assigned. Maybe the first holder is SK and a vanity
call also has a 10X number. In the past, if one call of such a pair were entered into the
contest program, a popup box would list both 10X numbers and you could decide which 10X
number to use. The call sign has just been added to the display. The SK call sign will
appear in lower case. This should make it faster to decide. A big-gun contester said
making the choice slowed down his operation and wanted the non-SK 10X number by default.
An option was added to the "Contest Setup" tab under the Options Menu. Clicking
this box will by-pass the popup window choice and enter the non-SK 10X number by default.
This feature may be added later to the County Hunter and Daily Log, if requested. However,
the callsign display has been added to the CH and DL. When exporting a contest log into
the Daily Log, if the Springbok option is checked, a valid 10X number is required for the
associated Springbok info to be transferred. Now, if there is no 10X number, then no blank
Springbok info will be entered into the Daily Log. The routine that checks to make sure
the county entered is in the state worked was modified not to prevent the QSO from being
filed, but will be filed for editing later.
Fixed a problem that only happened with Windows 7. The 'Send-Key' function was used in
the Auto-F4 routine to automatically file new Counties, 10X, VP, etc from the Daily Log
into the County Hunter. A work-around was found and used to prevent the problem.
Version 3.3e - February 2, 2011
Added support for the revised rules for the Mobile Contest. To activate the Mobile
Contest Mode, click the 'Mobile Mode' box on the 'Contest Setup' tab of the Options Menu.
This mode is saved in a config file and will still be activated everytime the Win1010
program is restarted until the Mobile Mode is unchecked and saved. Click the 'Mobile Help'
button by the Mobile Contest box on the Options Menu. The 25 record demo limit in the
Contest Program has been removed until April 3, 2011 to allow for free operation during
the 2011 Winter Phone and 2011 Mobile Contests.
Version 3.3d - November 19, 2010
Added 4 new countries with the PJ2, PJ4, PJ5 & PJ6
and PJ7 prefixes to the CTY_AZ95.TXT file. If a call is entered with the PJ5 or PJ7
prefix, a popup window will ask if you want the current new country name or the Deleted
Country name. Normally, you would choose the current country name, unless you were
entering data from an old log.
Fixed a problem when the last station entered in the County Hunter matching the call
entered into the CertChaser was a mobile. This caused a runtime error #63. This was fixed.
Fixed a problem when creating a Daily Log ADIF file: the 070 and EPC numbers were placed
after the <EOR> flag. The field for the EPC number would only accept a 4 digit
number. This was increased to 5.
Version 3.3c - April 25, 2010
Increased capacity of the EPC/070 numbers. Renamed
PSK62 to PSK63. Renamed QPSK61 to PSK125. Added routine to alert user if a second instance
of Win1010 is running. When Win1010 starts, it creates a file named 'Running.TXT' This
file is erased during a normal Exit from Win1010. Added code to determine if the Windows
O/S is Windows 7.
Added to the MyList routine a new button "C" on the View Update Log menu. This
displays only the changes made to the Chapter/Seal records. Also a text file is created
named Update.txt and is in the MyList folder. This file can be loaded into a word
processor and printed if desired.
Added support for the new Spirit of 76 Contest. To activate the Spirit of 76 mode, click
that box on the Contest Setup tab of the Main Options Menu. Use ALT-M to change modes
before entering the Call. Changing the log heading titles spacing was not working for the
County column. These settings are under the Misc tab on the yellow 'Change Log Spacing'
label and was fixed.
Version 3.3b - September 20, 2009
Added the web page ham search at BuckMaster.com. With a call in the
Call Field, click on the red "BUC" button. If the BuckMaster CD is not being
used, then the web page will popup with the info for the station in the Call field. This
routine works in all modules. If no call is in the Call Field, then the BuckMaster web
page is accessed. Likewise, if the QRZ CD is not being used, clicking the QRZ button will
bring up the QRZ.COM Callsign search web page.
Added a button in the 'Download Databases' screen to display the
Win1010DL web page. Also a button to send email to K4HAV. Completely revised FCC Database
download routine. The old routine used the HTTP file transfer and if the file was in the
Windows Cache, then the old file was used. In this routine, all the files are downloaded
and then they are unzipped. The earlier version had the FCC path hard-coded so that only
the C and D drives were useable for the FCC downloads. Now any path in the Options FCC
Path can be used. Whatever is in the Options Path will be used. There is a 2 second wait
added after each file that is unzipped to make sure it is finished before going to the
next file. On the downloads, a routine called "StillExecuting" is used to make
sure the download of that file is complete before proceeding to the next file. Before the
Download Databases screen is displayed, the routine logs on to the HDS.NET FTP server and
downloads the WebFiles.TXT file. This will take several seconds and the hourglass symbol
will be displayed for the mouse cursor.
The red VOLUNTEER label was not being removed
after filing the record. Fixed.
Entering a call into the call field will bring up the Chapters for this station. Instead
of clicking on a chapter, if you click on the blank space (of a short list), a Runtime
Error #381 would be generated and the program crash. A trap was inserted to prevent this.
The red VOLUNTEER label was not being removed
after filing the record. Fixed. Whenever making a 10X BAR Award Application, there is now
an option not to make the printout, since if the ASCII file is submitted, there is no need
for a printout unless you want a hard copy.
Version 3.3a - September 9, 2009
Changed all the display fonts from the Visual Basic
default MS Sans Serif to Arial. The original fonts were bit-mapped fonts and it was read
in a "Tips and Tricks" article that the Arial True Type font was much sharper
and did not have the jagged stair-step edges when in large sizes. The resulting text in
the log screens is slightly larger and the Log Height setting may have to be changed to
view the last added record. This is done by using the Control-I routine. You may have to
lower the default setting by one. Added to the "Update Databases" info display a
routine that displays the total memory in the computer, the total available memory and the
percentage of the memory used. This serves no purpose for Win1010, but was added only for
The 3.3 version increased the capacity of the EPC database to 20,000 records and noted
that the last EPC number issued at that time was 8093. If using Auto-EPC-insert, the last
number 8093 was entered into the Daily Log by default if the call did not have an EPC
number, but could be edited out. It was assumed that the file would also have 8093
records, but several numbers were skipped including EPC-6000 and the total number of EPC
numbers was 8089. This caused the program to read in some blank records into memory and
was causing this problem, which was fixed.
If the Auto-transfer to the County Hunter option is turned off and after a record was
entered that was also in the County Hunter the next record, if the station was not
in the CH, would display the info from the previous station. This was fixed.
Version 3.3 - August 29, 2009
Replaced the FreeSize.OCX with the Vista compatible
AResize.OCX. Added new routine 'Update Databases' to download and install updates from the
web page without leaving Win1010..
Added PDF support so that the Contest Fast Start help file could be viewed from within
Fixed problem that whenever a record was edited, the RST Received was assigned the RST

included in the same countdown number. Now it is easier to spot a missing or corrupt file.
Added to the full setup program a file (MSVBVM50.DLL) needed for installation on a Vista
Added PSK export into the County Hunter. Updated CW export into the County Hunter.
Version 3.2 April 10, 2008
Installed Visual Basic 6.0 and moved Win1010
programming code from VB5 to VB6. VB6 is more compatible with Windows Vista. Version 3.2
was compiled using VB5 on a Windows XP computer. Using the 3.2 update will require that
the DLL/OCX files on an existing Win1010 installation will have to be updated using the
new DLL_UP program. The 1010.txt database was extended to include 85,000 records. Added
the EPC and 070 databases which are read into memory on startup. These numbers are used in
the Contest program for the new Open Season Contest and in the Daily Log. The databases

Utilities. This new routine is on the "Edit 1010 and VP Database" screen.
Updated the OM/XYL database with 175 new pairs. Fixed the popup window when you enter a
call that has two 10X numbers. The first digit of a five digit 10X number was not shown on
the first 10X number.
When working a new mobile and there was a County Hunter log entry for the same mobile, but
before the start date of January 1, 1996, it would not recognize it as a new mobile. This
was fixed and if you have any mobiles in the County Hunter before the start date that were
entered into the County Hunter after that date, they should be checked to make sure the
MBAR indicator is set correctly.
Added the Grid.dat file to the backup/restore routines.
Version 3.1 October 3, 2007
Added Grid Square support with input in Contest and Daily Log programs. Added 12
additional digital modes to be selected by using the ALT-M key. Added mode support for the

contacts to be used in the Digital Award. Added Digital WAS display/printout/ascii file
routine. Removed popup box asking for member expiration date since this is no longer
required. Added a 10 record RTTY printout/ASCII file for the Digital Endorsement.
If a new RTTY contact is entered that is not already in the County Hunter, the RT mode box
will turn red. Hitting F4 will also file into the County Hunter. If this 10X already has a
PSK contact, then the County Hunter DigBAR indicator will be set to "U".
Version 2.9c July 25, 2006
Version 2.9b June 9, 2006
An option to use an application starting date was added to the
red buttons #1 and #2 which make the long-type applications for chapters and seals. The
routine checks the Daily Log and if a QSO is there on or after the starting date, then
this chapter/seal record is included in the application.
Added support for the new Digital Award which begins August 1,
2006. The Digital BAR application is in the County Hunter Print Menu with the other BAR
applications. At the present time, only PSK contacts are considered in this Digital Award.
There is an option to make an ASCII version of the printed application which can be
emailed. In the VIEW menu, you can display the Dig_BAR.DAT file, all Digital contacts
since August 1, 2006, all Digital contacts that have been used in an award application
(DigBAR = "Y") and all Digital contacts that have not been used for an award
application (DigBAR = "N"). The Dig_BAR.DAT file is a recap of all Digital BAR
applications. A similar xx_BAR.DAT file exists for all awards. The DigBAR indicator box is
to the right of the RST Received box. There was not room for a label for this box.
Added to the F4 transfer from Daily Log
to County Hunter routine, provisions for transferring new PSK records. If new, the PSK
Mode box will turn red and a message will popup and advise to use the F4 key to transfer
the record to the County Hunter.
In the ASCII import routine to the Daily Log, the imported
data went into the original Log.Dat file. This was fine if the multiple Daily Log option
was not being used, because the target file was hard-coded to the original log.dat file.
Now the import will be into the Default Daily Log file, whichever one is active during the
import. In the "F" button Files Menu, an option was added to the #18 button -
Import ASCII files. This option will convert an ADIF file to a comma-delimited (CSV) ASCII
file. Many of the popular logging programs do not have CSV output but will output in the
ADIF format. This will allow Win1010 users to import their logging data into the Win1010
Daily Log. Read the Help file in the ASCII routine for more info.
If editing the contest database for U.S. stations, a two
letter USPO state abbreviation would appear in the database in the same manner it was
typed. For example: GA, Ga or ga. A trap was inserted to make all two letter QTH's upper
Changed 'Work the Numbers' award data from 43 to 44. In the
Daily Log Print Menu, options 2 and 7 did not use the correct Mode when making as ASCII
file. This was fixed. Daily Log Print Menu option 6 was changed from print all records to
print a range of records. Also added option to print a single mode and/or single band. An
ASCII output file option was also added. In the Daily Log Utilities Menu, option 3 was
expanded to include both the mode and band. The display can now be done for a single mode
or frequency (band).
Version 2.9a February 9, 2006
Fixed Run Time Error 13 when entering a new Daily Log Name.
The max-length error checking routine had been deleted. The maximum capacity of the Daily
Log Archive file has been increased to 60,000.
The maximum point values in the Springbok weekly contact
program was changed requiring a modification in the code.
Version 2.9 May 29, 2005
Added default values to the 'top of form' variable that makes the last
added record appear at the bottom of the form. If a non-standard screen resolution was
used, the last file record and all the ones before it, might be off the screen display and
the screen appear to be blank.
Added ML User display sorted by Call. Now both sorted by 10X and call are displayed in two
windows. Double-clicking on the Call display will give option for printout of both list
side-by-side. This routine is activated by hitting the green 'ML' button in the ML
routine. Added to Files Menu Option #21 and #22 to Merge either two Chapters or two Seals.
The merged file names are MergedChap.CHP and MergedChap_MergedSeal.UPG. These can be duped
by using red buttons #1 and #2 and then sorting on the 10X colun. Write down the record
number of the dupe to remove and then use the F4 and F5 routines to delete the dupes. Then
use the Utility Menu to remove the Deleted records.
Changed maximum number of contacts from 3000 to 3500. Added ALT-M routine. When working
the Sprint or CW Contest, you can hit the Alt-M keys and enter a different mode. When
making an ASCII log, these different modes will be used. Also when exporting to the Daily
Log, the different modes will be transferred to the Daily Log. These different modes will
also be transferred with the new 10X numbers to the County Hunter.
Added option to the F4 and F11 routines to omit mobiles and portables from the display.
Added Control-I routine to reduce the number of log items displayed when the screen is not
full screen. If screen is 1/4 size, then use #3 or 2. Added to the VIEW 10X_BAR routine
the option to display the records in the 10X Bar file sorted by 10X. This is a great way
to spot dupes that have been submitted. If you were editing a record and did not file it
or clear the input fields before hitting the 'EXIT' button, the record that was being
edited will become corrupted. This has been fixed. Normally one would not start to edit a
record and not finished the routine, but it has happened. Added Print Option to the VIEW
Menu "Display DX Stations Worked". Prints 50 records per page. Also added QSL
indicator number to display.
Increased capacity from 22000 to 30000. Added option on Daily Log Utilites Menu to delete
a range of the Daily Log. Added option on Daily Log Utilites Menu to delete the non-10X
records in either the Daily Log or the Daily Log Archive file (log_arch.dat) Added
Control-I routine to reduce the number of log items displayed when the screen is not full
screen. If screen is 1/4 size, then use #3 or 2. Added on Main Options Menu 'Misc' Tab
Routine to use multiple Daily Log Files. File must be in 'DL_xxxxx.dat' format. Max
Filename Length = 8 digits. The default Daily Log file is saved to the config file. If you
were editing a record and did not file it or clear the input fields before hitting the
'EXIT' button, the record that was being edited will become corrupted. This has been
fixed. Normally one would not start to edit a record and not finished the routine, but it
has happened. Changed Worked the Numbers Award to those 10X with 43 in it.
Version 2.8c Oct. 6, 2004
Used updated WinXP SP2 compatible CSText32.OCX and CSCMD32.OCX files.
Updated DLL_UP.EXE file to also use these updated OCX files.
Version 2.8b April 30, 2004
Removed Call Sign validate routine from the stand-alone 10X program. If an user had
changed his call in the Options Menu, this proram would not run. Both Version 2.8b update
and full setup was compiled with new TAB ocx file.
Fixed OM/XYL display as not to include dupes.
Version 2.8a March 17, 2004
Added routine in Database Utilities to display all the SK records in the County Hunter
or Daily Log (and DL_Archive file). The SK display in the CH has a print option. The /M
was stripped from the call search in the XXIP routine so that mobile calls are now
Modified the Springbok Weekly Contact Birthday routine to meet the new Monthly Birthday
Added red popup msg box to alert user of a possible OM/XYL team. Added support for the new
2004 Mobile Contest.
Added routine activated by Control-O to check the CH file and display all the OM/XYL teams
found. An OM-XYL database is compared with the CH95.dat file and if both OM and XYL have
been worked, then it will appear in the display. Double-click on the display for an ASCII
file and option for a printout. Added red popup msg box to alert user of a possible OM/XYL
team in the Contest, County Hunter and Daily Log programs. Control-J will list any contact
made with a member of an OM/XYL team and display the missing member.
Added red popup msg box to alert user of a possible OM/XYL team. Added 10X search for call
not in the contest database (db95.dat)
Version 2.8 January 28, 2004
Added in the Utility Menu (U Button) routines to remove records from the Last Sent and
Received List Logs. These two routines create a backup as soon as the #5 or #6 buttons are
hit. If ever needed, it will have to be manually restored. Added "does file
exist" routine to make sure the ZIP.EXE file is present when you start to make a Zip
backup in the CertChaser #10 Backup routine. In the past if not present, a Run Time Error
53 would be created. Added routine to extract call from a ML file if the "_"
character is missing as might be case of a six letter call from a DBTEN ListWiz user in
which the DOS file uses the 8x3 naming format. Added option in the ML Update Names routine
to Inactivate an excess chapter or seal in addition to the delete procedure.
Revised ASCII log routine to meet new Contest Rules for electronic submission.
Changed the code on the 41st Anniversary Contest to cover the 42nd Anniversary Contest.
Added support for the Partial Call Search (PAR Button) for the Daily Log.
Version 2.7c October 30, 2003
Added the option to Edit the VP Database under the Database Utility Menu. Now you use
the same menu item to edit either the 1010 or VP databases. Modified FCC search program so
if call is a DX, then the Flying Horse - Radio Amateur CallBook CD or the QRZ CD will be
searched (if installed).
Modified ASCII Import routine for Seal import, so that if the Total Points and/or Used
Points Field Number is left blank, then the Total Points will be given the default value
of 1 (one) point and the option to set the Used Points to 1 (one) or 0 (zero) points.
Added Edit routine to Red Button #1 and #2 to be able to edit the TPoint values. Highlight
or select the record to edit and hit the blue EDIT button. Enter the new Total Points and
hit the F1 key or just ENTER to file the record. The updated display will change the
values and display in red. This edit routine works with the calls sorted.
Added trap in the Contest Log Export/Import routine to prevent program crash if no contest
log is loaded.
Fixed bug in VP Database printout routine that prevented entire list from being printed.
Added option to View VP Database to show display sorted by QTH. This can be used to find
VP members in those rare states for VP WAS. This routine uses the Contest Database
(DB95.DAT) to obtain the state; therefore, if the station is not in the DB95.DAT, then he
will not appear in this display.
Modified F11 routine to find all calls that have two or more 10X numbers. This routine now
uses the current 1010.txt database and displays the results sorted by calls. My AMD 1800
takes about 70 minutes to complete. The output file is included in the update package. It
will be used for the display if present or you can create a new one. Added Last List
Sent/Rec dates to small window display for call entered into the Daily Log. Editing the
Springbok value in the MISC field only worked for an increased value. Now it also works
also for a smaller value. Editing the SBxx# value in the Daily Log MISC field will trigger
the option to also update the Chapter file. Fixed ADIF Export (button #7) to only include
records in the range. Old version exported all records to the ADIF file. Also added option
to export all bands in addition to the existing one band option.
Version 2.7b August 25, 2003
Added the "Close" command to the Blue K button. This will close
any file that might be open. Normally all files are closed when the routine is finished,
but the "file already open" error has been seen at random times.
Fixed the date trap for the Daily starting date. The trap was only to apply to the
Springbok Weekly routine, but applied to all the Daily routines also. Modified the
Springbok Weekly dupe removal routine. The first method left the first contact of the
week. The new method leaves the latter record if it has a higher point value.
The "R" to repeat the last date is now working also for the EDIT routine. You
must edit the first record to put the date in memory and then hit "R" for the
date to repeat the previous date.
The "R" to repeat the last date is now working also for the EDIT routine. You
must edit the first record to put the date in memory and then hit "R" for the
date to repeat the previous date. The Springbok Chapter file (if it contains records) is
searched for the 10X of the Daily Log entry and if found, inserts the point value into the
MISC field for use in the Springbok Weekly program. Added Edit routine for Archive Log.
Double click on the record to edit. This will bring up a popup window with the 15 fields
listed. Choose the field to edit and hit ENTER. This will bring up a box to enter the new
value. After entering the new value, the info window will refresh showing the edited
Version 2.7a August 5, 2003
Somehow the Progress Bar got removed from the WAS and WACA routines, thus causing the Run
Time Error #454 "Object Was Not Found". Replacing the Progress Bar solved the
problem. The routine that displays the Certificate Chasers in the County Hunter (Red
Button #5) now gets the call from the 1010.TXT file rather than the call in the County
Hunter. The calls in the 1010.TXT file will be more current than the call in the County
On some computers, a null ASCII character is added after the callsign. This normally does
not cause any problems, but in the case of the Add-a-Note feature (ALT-N or the NP
button), the null ASCII character prevents the ".NOT" file extension from being
added to the file name. A null trimming routine was added to the Note routine to cure
this. In the past, only four separate notes were allowed for each call. This was increased
Version 2.7 July 31, 2003
Modified the Update Win1010/FCC program to use the FreeSize OCX control.
Added error message to Options Menu for Run Time Error #482. The Options Menu requires
that a Windows printer be installed.
Fixed bug in VP number export from contest log to County Hunter.
Added error routine in Zip Drive Backup to display name of file giving an error and name
of group the error occurred. New SentList.log added to backup items. Set ASCII import
field indicators to zero when changing from DH to CH. Added support for new Springbok
Weekly Contact program. See Daily Help file. Added Last List Sent Date routine. Activate
by hitting ALT-Control L. This is similar to the Last List Received Date activated by the
Control L keys. The F12 display was modified to also display the Last Sent List Date in a
separate window so both can be compared. A new routine activated by hitting Alt-F12 that
compares both sent and received list dates and displays (also printout option) calls and
dates. Put trap in Daily date ranges to make sure ENTER was hit instead of the TAB key.
Changed the Utility Menu #4. The chapter or seal highlighted in the big window displaying
all the deleted records is now the chapter or seal to be used in the remove 'deleted'
records routine. So now you can select one chapter or seal to run and then hit the #4
button, then select another one. By hitting the #3 button, the display will be refreshed
minus any chapters or seals that contained deleted records.
Added 'Display all Counties Worked' option to the Print/Display All CH Data, the last item
in the County Hunter Print Menu. This info was already available in as ASCII file and
printout, but now it is also displayed.
Added routine to check QSL status in County Hunter, Daily Log and Daily Log Archive file
to display highest number, date and record number. Not Sent = 0, Sent = 1, Sent and QSL
Received = 2. Added new routine in the Daily Log Utilities Menu to extract a range of
records from the Log_Arch.dat file. Routine also to display this log. If you want to
substitute this 'Extracted' log for the regular Daily Log log.dat file, then you must
first rename the log.dat file to something else and then rename this newly extracted file,
log_extract.dat to log.dat. Needless to say, you need to have a backup of you Daily Log
(log.dat) file BEFORE you start renaming. The date was also added to the Daily Log and
Log_Arch.dat display so you can extract records for certain dates. Completed Daily Log
Utilities Menu Option #2 to delete a range of records from the Log_Arch.dat file. The
range entered to delete is displayed before the final OK is hit to make sure you have
entered the desired range.
Version 2.6 March 5, 2003
Added support for the Mobile Contest. Instructions are in the What's New in Version 2.6
file accessed from the Help button at the top of the screen.
Added a printout option to the Utility Menu button #3 which displays the deleted records
in the Chapter and Seal files.
Version 2.5 January 17, 2003
Replaced the Resize32.ocx control with the FreeSize.ocx control on the 11 screens where
Resize32 was used. On some computers using Norton System Works, there was a conflict with
the Resize32 control and some of the supporting DLL files were evidently replaced on the
Norton Install. The FreeSize(VB5).OCX control is included in the 2.5 update and should be
placed in the Win1010 folder. The 10X.EXE stand-alone 10X and VP search program was
updated to use the FreeSize OCX control.
Whenever Win1010 is started, the Win1010 folder location (path) is written into the
Windows Registry. Future self-extracting updates will use this path in the Registry to
install updates directly from the web without downloading and unzipping. You can check
this value by hitting the Control-X key when in the Contest, CH or DL programs. An
additional function was added to the Control-X routine. It will check all DX entries to
see if any U.S. Counties were entered by mistake to the DX record. If any are found, they
will be displayed.
Very Important - Please Read: Version 2.3
added to the Daily Log (the same routine is also used in the County Hunter) the option to
hit the F1 key to file the record if the date and time field were blank. If so, then the
computer date and time would be used. This created a problem in that if the call was in
the DB95.DAT file and all the info was automatically added and if the record was filed,
without moving through the various fields with the ENTER key, THEN the 10X and VP duping
routines were not activated. This could lead to duplicate unused 10X and VP numbers being
used in 10X and VP applications. A trap has been installed to insure that the 10X and VP
duping routines are run. To make sure that no duplicate "Not Used" indicators
are incorrectly set, you should run the "Update Indicators" routines for the 10X
and VP in the Utility Menu. It would be a good idea to run the other two Update Indicator
routines also. To run these routines, click on the Utility button and choose County Hunter
Utilities, then choose the last choice. Only run the "Update Indicator"
Routines. Do not run the "Reset Indicator" routines.
To test to see if this happened in your records, you can view the unused 10X and VP
numbers and jot that number down. Then run the Update Indicators routine and then check
the view unused 10X and VP again and compare the two totals.
Added a default signal report 599 (CW) or 59 (SSB) to the ADIF Contest log export routine.
This is to benefit those using the ADIF file to send to eQSL.
Added a new routine in the Daily Contact program activated by hitting the "CK"
button. This will compare the 10X numbers in a selected chapter to those 10X numbers in
the TenTen_DailyBD.UPG file and display any chapter members whose birthdays are not in the
UPG file. If any are found, then these calls will not be used for the Birthday search,
since they are not in the Daily Birthday database. Please advise K4HAV any additions to
the Birthday Database. Added call vs. 10X check routine in MyList Import routine to alert
user if the 10X does not match the callsign. Hopefully, you should never see this popup
message. This would prevent importing a ML into the wrong 10X number.
There was a situation that would place the ASCII Null Character (value = zero) into the
Suffix field if left blank. This only happened on the first chapter entered after starting
the Certificate Chaser and if there was no suffix entered. These null characters were only
apparent in the F4 Chapter display. All info to the right of the Suffix field would not be
displayed. This caused no harm or loss of data but only effected the F4 Display. A new
routine was added in the new "U" Utility Menu to search throught all the
chapters and display any records that had this null character. Also a routine was added to
replace these null characters with the regular ASCII blank character which is ASCII - 32.
Added new Blue Button "U" at bottom of screen. This pops up an Utility Menu.
This menu has options to check for Null ASCII charactures in a blank Suffix field and to
remove any found. This does all chapter files at one time. Also a new routine to display
any "Deleted" contacts in the Chapter and Seal files with another routine to
remove any "Deleted" call records found. This does one file at a time. Added
popup messages in Zip Backup Routine to alert users that the compression was not finished
- should this be the case and to wait a few seconds and then hit OK to continue. Put a
trap in the ML creation routine not to include the TenTen_DailyBD.UPG file in the ML list.
Changed the Archive log to have a maximun number of 50,000 records. See the County Hunter
note on Version 2.3. Changed the Archive Log display to be done from memory instead of
reading the file. Changed the 40th Anniversity routine to be used with the 41st
Anniversity Contest. The F8 routine in previous versions would not transfer new Prefixes
or Counties if the 10X already existed in the County Hunter file. This might be the case
where a new vanity call resulted in a new prefix or the station was mobile in a new
county. Version 2.5 adds separate routines to transfer these prefixes and counties.
Version 2.4 January 2, 2003
Setup hot keys to start the County Hunter (ALT-Y), Daily Log (ALT-L) and Certificate
Chaser (ALT-A) as per an user request.
Fixed Auto-CC-to-CH transfer to transfer back to the Certificate Chaser after the new call
is entered to the County Hunter. Removed the TenTen_DailyBD.UPG seal from the seals
checked in the ML Update Names routine. This was to avoid the temptation to delete an
"excess" seal, which in this case was not excess, but is the Daily Routine
Birthday database. Now the search of the County Hunter for "CC" Certificate
Chasers is in reverse order. This will now list a new vanity call instead of the old call
which was being found from the search beginning at the start of the file. Inserted a trap
in the Chapter Number field to prevent entering a zero. Revised ListLog update routine in
the ML routine to use the call in the ML List. In past versions, the call already in the
List Log was being used. The old way would not recognize a new vanity call for a call
already in the Last List Log. Revised Daily Contact routine to include option to search
only for Mobiles.
Revised code to remove the /M of mobiles when searching the Daily Log for previous
contacts. Entering either K4HAV or K4HAV/M will find all previous contacts with both K4HAV
and K4HAV/M. Revised the 40th Anniversity log print out to include the mode and also to
provide an ASCII file for electronic log submission.
Version 2.3 December 15, 2002
Added trap in FCC routine that reads the VE database. If the record was
extra long, a runtime error 5 would occur. Added a line in the File Menu to Run the new
Update Utility Program. The DX Editor, N5MT, added some new prefixes to the Cty_AZ95.Txt
Added Control-M routine to allow the Win1010 user to make a ML file for someone whose
records is in his Certificate Chaser data. Hitting the Ctrl-M key will ask for the 10X
number of the station whose ML list is desired. During the ASCII file creation, you will
be asked for the name, street address and QTH. To revert back to your own ML file
creation, hit the Ctrl-M key again and choose 'YES'. Added routine to check for no NumLock
after display Chap/Seal info or when filing an update. The NumLock was being removed when
using Windows XP. Added routine to handle the Daily Contact programs. A birthday database
was created in Seal format named TenTen_DailyBD.UPG for use with the new Daily Contact
routine. Reversed search order in County Hunter ch95.dat file for call entered into
Certificate Chaser call field. New searh order is from last record to first record. Added
a line of dashes after the end of the ML file. Some users were adding notes and these
caused misfits. Now the ML display/import routine checks for the dashes as an end of file
marker. Removed Option #2 "Automatic File CC Record into Daily Log" from the CC
Options Menu since this serves no purpose. Added a Zip Backup Routine to the Certificate
Chaser Backup Routine. Added a routine to make the F4 and F5 displays return to the same
record after filing an edit. HF button did display the CertChaser file in WordPad, now it
displays the Help file using the Windows Help system. Added a file named MLUser.TXT that
has the 10X numbers of all known ML Users. Whenever a call is entered that is in the
MLUser list, the 10X field will turn light green to signify a ML user. In the ML routine,
a new "ML" button was added to display this list or to print.
Added trap to prevent a 10X over 75000 from being entered into call field. Added routine
that will place the last contest name into the Registry. When you go to the "Open
Existing Contest", this contest name will be in the name to open box. This will save
time opening the current contest file, if the computer is shut down overnight. If you wish
to open a different contest file, then select from the list.
Added trap to prevent a 10X over 75000 from being entered into call field. Added routine
activated by Control-E to remove a zero ascii blank-space character from the call field.
On one occasion part of a contest log exported to the County Hunter had the zero ascii
character instead of the normal "32" ascii blank-space character for the
trailing blank spaces. This caused some of the County Hunter displays not to display all
the info. At the beginning of this routine, the CH file is checked and if any bad calls
are found, they will be displayed and you will be advised to continue with the routine. In
the past, the date and time fields were required. Now if they are blank when the F1 key is
hit, the computer date and time will be used.
Hard coded KL7NL, KH6OE and AH6KB to use their DB95.DAT Stateside QTH instead of the
auto-DX-Country finder based on their prefix. Added trap to prevent a 10X over 75000 from
being entered into call field. If the 10X was entered for the callsign, then the previous
contacts were not found and displayed in the small window. The 10X to call conversion was
adding blank spaces after the call and the compare routine did not work. In the past, the
date and time fields were required. Now if they are blank when the F1 key is hit, the
computer date and time will be used. A trap to prevent user from using a comma in the Misc
field. If a comma is used and the comma delimited ascii file is created, then the part of
the Misc info after the comma will be placed in the next field and will thrown off the
other fields. Added routine in Log File routine to check the Freq and if not 10 Meters,
then the 10X (if there is one) is set to zero, since obtaining a 10X on another frequency
is not a valid 10X exchange.
Version 2.2 September 20, 2002
Added line of code to null the city and state before the FCC search. If the Zip Code
was not found, then the last found city/state was being inserted into the Daily Log and
County Hunter if this option was activated. The Zip Code database was updated with approx
500 new zip codes. Changed Zip Codes 80020, 80021 and 80038 to the new Broomfield County,
Colorado. Some of the Zip Codes in the FCC Database have been transposed or are wrong for
other reasons. These Zip Codes are stored in a new file named XZip.TXT and will be
searched if the FCC Database Zip Code is not found in the regular Zip Code Database. The
city and state are correct but the Zip Code may be wrong - in many cases numbers are
transposed. If these records are used, the (FCC Zip Data) will be added to the city and
state display. The City and State will be entered into Daily Log if this option is checked
in the CH/DL Options Menu. Changed maximum allowed records in the DB95.DAT Contest
Database from 20,000 to 22,000. Increased maximum number of prefixes to 3500. Added
routine to Contest, CoHunter, and Daily Log to notify user if a call has two 10X numbers.
This might be caused by a vanity call upgrade for a call that belonged to a Silent Key or
was lapsed. Both stations would have also had to have a 10X number. Added 5 Guantanamo Bay
calls to the Cty_AZ95.TXT file. These calls will trigger the QTH of Guantanamo Bay. Most
of the KG4 calls now are in the U.S. Only KG4CD, KG4RC, KG4DX, KG4SD and KG4JY will
trigger the DX QTH. Added routine to place FCC search results of name, call, street
address and QTH on the Windows Clipboard. This can be pasted in NotePad or other programs.
A blank line is added to separate additional pastings.
When entering a 1010 number in the callsign field, if the 10X began with an "1",
then the auto-country finder assigned Penguin Island as the QTH, if the call was not in
the DB95.DAT file. This was because the Penguin Island prefix is "1" and/or ZS0.
The auto-country finder routine was moved below the code to convert the 10X into the call
and this solved this problem. Fixed View Menu option to view Contest Notes. Placed the
"FindCountry" routine after the 10X to call conversion if a 10X is entered into
the call field. A 10X beginning with "1" and not in the DB95.DAT file would have
the QTH of Penguin Island, since the prefix of of "1" represents Penguin Island
- a deleted DXCC country. Added a red 'ASCII' button to create ASCII log and cover sheet
files to use in the electronic submission of contest logs. File names will be YourCall.LOG
and YourCall.SUM and will be in the Win1010 folder.Modified PostContest Mode to include a
date. Old method was to change the date on your computer. Removed mobiles and portables
from the Check Log routine. Revised AutoFCC insert of County not to insert if a portable
or mobile. Added Control-S routine to sort a contest log by date and time. Added trap to
force user to use the ENTER key when entering Call/QTH. The TAB key should not be used.
Modified 10X entry so that if 10X=0 then skip the VP field, since a 10X is required to
have a VP. Hitting ENTER with the 10X field blank, files the QSO.
Added routine (button #19 in Files Menu) to convert the DOS-based EE10 Certificate Program
data files, written by NN1J, to comma-delimited files for import into the Win1010 program
using the ASCII Import routine. Added option in the ASCII import routine to choose a date
for the CH or DL imports if there is no date in the comma delimited file. This would be
the case for EE10 data. Added option in the ASCII import routines to import a zero 10X
number. If this is done, then the missing 10X number must be edited into the record in the
Win1010 module in question. Added option in the ASCII import routine to set all records
imported into the County Hunter as being Certificate Chasers. This would be true if the
files being imported were from DBTen, EE10, or some other certificate software. Modified
the WACA routine to include the /M for mobile stations. Also now searches the Daily Log
Archive file if no record was found in the current Daily Log file. This is used in the
"Last Date" worked entry. Modified the WAS routine to search the Daily Log
Archive file if no record was found in the current Daily Log file. This is used in the
"Last Date" worked entry. Modified the WAS routine to only list one record found
in the CH in the optional "Sorted by States" list. If the call appeared in the
CH 3 times, then it also appeared in the WAS sorted by state list 3 times. Modified both
WAS and WACA routines not to include own 10X record. Added popup question box at end ML
import routine to ask user if he wants to record the ML List Date in the List Log. This is
normally done in the Certificate Chaser using the Control-L key. There are multiple date
options. Added second option to My List View Update Log. The "A" button will
only display Actual updates. If nothing was updated then nothing will be shown. Added trap
to the F5 (display seal file) routine to make sure a chapter had been double-clicked. If a
chapter had not been selected before a seal was selected for the F5 routine, then a new
blank UPG file would be created that did not have the Chapter Name at the beginning of the
UPG file. This would not happen if the normal sequence of events was followed when using
the F5 routine. The bogus file created would be named "_xx.UPG" where
"xx" was the seal name.
Added option to View Counties Used and Unused for BAR to display results sorted by state.
A printout is also available. Added the CC and Note Indicators to the Import Old DOS
County Hunter records routine for someone just getting back into 1010 and updating his DOS
program. Added routine in 'Create PX Index' routine to remove the slash from the prefix.
Increased maximum number of prefixes that can be displayed with the VIEW menu. Sometime
during the past few updates, the DXCC number was set to zero if the cursor failed to pass
through the QTH field. These records can be manually one-at-a-time corrected with the F8
routine or done all at once. See below. Added new option to the F8 routine: In the event
that you have more than a few records with DXCC = 0, then this option can be used to
automatically update all records with the zero DXCC number to the correct number. As with
all major file revisions, a CH95.DAT backup should be made first.
Added a Freq field for those who have requested provisions for using the Daily Log on
other bands. 10 Meters will be the default, but other band designators in meters can also
be used: Accepted values are 160, 80, 75, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12, 10, 6, 2, 220, 440 or
1296. In the existing Daily Log records, the 10 meter band will be assigned to all
existing records. For future Daily Log records, 10 meters will also be assigned unless
another value is entered into the Freq field. The Daily Log printouts have been changed to
include the Freq and a new print option by Frequency has been added. This will only print
records that match the chosen frequency to print. Ascii and ADIF outputs will be available
for this option. The Print Option #1 ADIF output contains the Frequency as well as the
Print Option #2 by Range ASCII outputs. The Certificate Chaser uses the Last Worked Date
in the Daily Log in certain routines. Traps have been installed to use only 10 Meter
records in this case. Traps have been installed in the auto-transfer-F4 and F8 routines to
the County Hunter of new 10X, VP, County, Prefixes or DX, such that it must be on 10
Meters. The FREQ will remain for the next record and will become the default until
changed. If the Daily Log is restarted, then it will default back to 10 Meters. Also the
Mode and RST will be saved as the default. The non-printing first character of the call
entered problem was resolved. This only happened whenever the F1 key to file was hit while
the cursor was in the call field, which would be the case if the ENTER key was hit enough
times to return the cursor back to the starting point. Added times to the Also Worked
Display for a call being entered. Added a Confirm question box after hitting the DELETE
key. Revised AutoFCC insert of County not to insert if a portable or mobile.
Version 2.1d April 22, 2002
The CTY_AZ95.TXT file was updated with the Ducie Island DXCC number of 513.
The Control-G routine was modified to skip the Win1010 owner's records. Also the Control-G
routine adds an option to use a starting and ending date for QSO's in the Daily Log. The
Floppy Backup routine backed up the 3 index files and then checked for remaining floppy
disk space. This was changed to check for disk space after each index file. The Delete
Seal routine in the ML "Update Names" routine now also deletes the seal in the
Family file if there is one. In some cases NotePad was not found when displaying a file in
the #8 button Apps display causing a RTE 53 - file not found.
Version 2.1c March 31, 2002
When displaying your MyList using the red ML button if you had a zero for your Chapter
Number a RTE 55 would happen. A popup window was added to tell you which chapter had the
invalid Chapter Number and bypass the error message. Use the F4 key to edit in the proper
Chapter Number. Added on Options Menu a check box to activate in the ML routine the
changing of a seal point value of zero to one. Added a new routine activated by hitting
the Control-G key. This allows you to select up to five seals to submit to the GBTEN
chapter at one time. This could also be adapted for use with other chapters. Both an ascii
file and a printout is available. See CC Help file for more info. The SKIP button in the
Manual MyList import routine did not advance to the next records in one case. This was
fixed. Added the MyList folder to the Backup routines.
Version 2.1b March 11, 2002
During the course of writing and testing the ML routine, the Accepted List routine stopped
working due to some code being changed. This was overlooked in the release version and is
being corrected with this release. The AL file was being saved with trailing blank space
which caused the compare routine not to work. A trap was added to remove this blank space
when starting the ML routine, but just in case, the AL file should be Saved again to
remove the trailing blank space. It does not need recreating only Saving again.
Version 2.1a March 10, 2002
Revised the maximun number of "Accepted List" records from 500 to 750.
Version 2.1 March 6, 2002
Added to Database Utilites an option to remove the zero 10X number records from the
Defautl Contest Database DB95.DAT. The DB95.DAT file has a maximum capacity of 20,000
records. If these records are removed, then non-10X operators operating the contest for a
repeat time will not show up when their call is entered into the Contest Call field. Added
a printout routine for the VP Database display under the View VP Menu. This printout will
be in four columns of 75 records per column with a total of 300 per page. Therefore, 12
sheets of paper will be required for the printout. It is suggested that the VP column be
highlighted with a yellow highlight pen for ease of reading the four columns. Added
routine to determine the operating system of the computer and its finding is placed on the
opening contest screen. Choices are Win95, Win98, WinME, Win2000 or WinXP. This is used to
find the path and location of the Word Pad program, which is used to read the RTF Help
files. If the WordPad program is not in the usual places, then a pop-up message will
advise to find it and move a copy to the C:\Program Files\Accessories\ folder. If this
folder does not exist then it can be created.
Added Auto-List Updater by using the MyList ASCII file. This new routine will auto-import
and update the Chapter and Seal files in a matter of a few seconds for a
"MyList" received from other Win1010 users. To access this new feature, hit the
red ML button and choose "NO". The blank Chapter and Seal files were updated to
include only the active Chapters. Several Chapters or Seals were misspelled and these were
corrected as well a large number of new seals added. (Chapters = 117 and Seals = 638).
Added additional option to Red Button #5. This will offer an option to display all the
Certificate Chasers in the County Hunter file with the CC = "Y" and who are
Win1010 users. The CHUser.TXT file contains a list of 10X's of the Win1010 County Hunter
users. The list is sorted by Callsign and will make a 6 column printout with 65 records
per column. Page max = 390.
Added Control-N to Contest for "No VP field" during contest. This can be used by
those not having a VP number or those who do not desire to save the VP during the contest.
This will save one key stroke per record during the contest. Make a 1000 QSO's and save
1000 key strokes. In the Contest Export to County Hunter routine for CW and Mobiles, a
station with a zero 10X number was being exported and had to be deleted later. This was
fixed. The TAB Indexes were modified so that the TAB will move the cursor among the
various contest fields for editing purposes. Shift-TAB will move in reverse. The Enter Key
should be used after entering data. Use the TAB key only for editing. In the Export
Contest Log VP numbers to County Hunter, there was a case where the VP number could be
exported more then once. If the County Hunter had more than one occurence of the record
with no VP number, which might be the case when working a station fixed, then again mobile
or CW all with no VP number. In this case the VP would be imported that many times. This
was fixed with an exit line of code after the first match. There was another case where a
duplicate VP might be exported. The contest log VP export routine was rewritten to prevent
this. The address label printing routine was modified to now print in two or three
columns. The Tab button was changed to Tabs and now allows for user-set tabs for all the
two/three columns. For the three column format, the name and call sign are checked for
length and if too long to fit the label, the callsign is left off. Tab number 1 is used in
the QSL printer. The default is zero. The choice of two or three columns will be offered
when the Print button is hit.
Made the heading titles comma delimited to match the data in the Daily Log export by comma
Version 2.0b January 22, 2002
Added additional date checking line for Red Button #1 ASCII output to insure all records
are checked in the date period requested. In certain cases, some records were being
skipped. Shortened the LastWorked Date on CC CoHunter info display to LWD. On some
monitors the date was not at the first tab stop.
Added ADIF output for the County Hunter ch95.dat file. This option is in the County Hunter
Print Menu under "Print Data From CH File" option #1. The file name is
CoHunter.ADI and will be in the Win1010 folder. Added popup disclaimer about using the
QSL=2 indicator to create the DX Index file. Added Sorted by Call and Sorted by 10X
additional display options to the F11 Check 10X routine. If the QTH is placed into the QTH
field by the contest database (db95.dat) then the QTH field will be skipped when hitting
ENTER at the City field. An example would be KH6OE in KY. In past versions, when the
cursor was moved to the QTH field, the Auto-DX-Country routine would enter Hawaii based on
the KH6 prefix. The Hawaii would have to be edited back to KY. You can still use the
Auto-DX-Country routine by placing the cursor into the QTH field. If it is a prefix that
has more than one choice the the Multiple Prefix Window will popup. The Daily Log Print
Menu has an option on the 2002 Work the Numbers Contest to search the County Hunter file
for all records worked with "40" in the 10-10 number. This is for info only and
the Display using the Daily Log info should be used in submitting the 2002 Work the
Numbers Contest Log. Fixed a modification to the View 10X and VP WAS using the QSL
Indicator set to "2". Evidently the change was not saved when originally made. A
Run Time Error 13 was being generated.
Added ADIF output for the Daily Log log.dat file. This option is in the Dialy Log Print
Menu option #1. The file name is DailyLog.ADI and will be in the Win1010 folder. Revised
"Also Worked in Daily Log" display to start with the latest contact, then the
Archive file if it exists. The Edit routine was modified when checking for the existence
of a Note File, to check for the existence of the file name instead of checking for a file
length more than zero. This caused a RTE 53 'file not found' error for one user who backed
up his win1010 folder but not the lognotes folder. Separate New County, New 10X, New VP,
New Prefix and New DX Country flags are now being used for the auto-F4 filing from the
Daily Log to the County Hunter. In past versions, only one flag was set, but could be
reset to zero if a later field was edited and was not a new item. If the QTH is placed
into the QTH field by the contest database (db95.dat) then the QTH field will be skipped
when hitting ENTER at the City field. An example would be KH6OE in KY. In past versions,
when the cursor was moved to the QTH field, the Auto-DX-Country routine would enter Hawaii
based on the KH6 prefix. The Hawaii would have to be edited back to KY. You can still use
the Auto-DX-Country routine by placing the cursor into the QTH field. If it is a prefix
that has more than one choice then the Multiple Prefix Window will pop-up. Added
"Work the 40's Numbers in 2002" Contest display and printout to the Daily Log
Pring Menu. The display can also be used with the County Hunter records.
Version 2.0a October 31, 2001
Modified GetCountry Routine to have popup window for those DX prefixes
that can be used with 2 to 5 countries. This routine is not used with the DB10 import
routines or the ASCII import routines at the present time. Added Broomfield County,
Colorado to the Counties.TXT file and added new county to all County View and Printout
Reworked Export Contest Log to County Hunter routines to include the multiple DX country
popup window. Fine tuned the export routines to allow for more accurate bar indicators
assignment. Hard coded the Arial font for the condensed log printout. Depending on what
you last printed, the font may have defaulted to Courier. Changed condensed log printout
from 146 per page to 140 per page. In some cases of very wide calls such as WA0WWW/VE8,
the allowed space is too small and the balance of the line will wrap to the next line.
This will allow room for several line wraps per page without leaving off the page recaps
at the bottom of the page.
Modified the F5 routine to move the record found to the top of the log display window. By
double-clicking on the other calls found, the log display will move to that call. Then if
you want to edit it, just double click on the record number in the log display window.
Fixed the F6 key to only display the call in question. In the past, KM5M would find KM5M,
KM5Mx and KM5Mxx. Modified the "Create DX Index" routine to have option to use
the popup Multiple DX Country list or to use the DXCC number already in the CH95.DAT
records. The later choice should be used if you have deleted countries in your County
Hunter file, provided you have the correct ARRL DXCC number assigned to the record.
Modified the VIEW DX Index routine to display sorted by DXCC number or by Country name and
modified routine to make an ascii file named DX_Index.TXT every time either option is run.
This file is over-written each time. Modified View VP Submitted with a "Y" to
produce an ascii file named "UsedVP.TXT" everytime the display is shown. This
file is over-written each time. Modified View DX Countries worked to produce an ascii file
every time the display routine is run.
The Control-C routine that has been in the Contest and County Hunter programs was added to
the Daily Log. This key combo will display the County Selection Window.
Version 2.0 September 27, 2001
The "Get Country Name" routine was modified to accept up to 6
digits for the prefix. This will allow entering calls that are exceptions to the rule and
it will insert the correct country. The CTY_AZ95.TXT file was updated by N5MT the DX
Manager to include the new DXCC countries and exceptions to the rule. The maximum file
size for the CTY_AZ95.TXT file was increased to 1200 to allow for specific calls to be
entered that are exceptions to the rule. The Automatic DX QTH finder has been enhanced to
include a popup menu for selection of the country name if the prefix has two or more
counties for the same prefix. This file is encluded in the Version 2.0 update package.
Added fixed-space font printing for log exports to CH. In the past, the font used in the
printout was the last font used in the printer. Now the font is set by code to Courier.
Page numbering was also added to printouts. Revised Merge Two Contest Databases to compare
10X numbers instead of the call signs. Revised the Find Database dupes by 10X number to
include the current call assigned to the 10X number. This will make it easier to determine
which of the records contain the current data. Updated Contest Names for log printouts to
include years 2002 and 2003. Removed 'wrong 10X' message for non-1010 contacts.
Added sorted by DXCC number display/printout for VIEW All DX Countries Worked Display.
Added routine to include user's VP number on the VP application heading as per request
from VP Award Manager. The PX 100 BAR printout routine stopped working after a recent
update. This was fixed. The screen (and info) was erased before the printout and it should
have been erased and cleared after the printout. The VP WAS display and printout
selection routine will now give you the option to only use records with QSL indicator set
to "2". This has been a feature in the 10X WAS display for a while but was not
included in the VP WAS application. An error routine was added to allow you to skip a
record if it has bad data. Added trap to prevent letters to be entered for the QSL
indicator. Only 0, 1, 2 are allowed. Revised 10X BAR application printout to allow space
for Award Manager's "Approval Stamp".
Reset NewCounty Flag to 'NO' in GetLogCounty routine before the selection of a county
name. If a mobile's home county was a new county and the mobile county was not a new
county, then the first NewCounty flag was not changed. This could lead to already worked
counties being auto transferred to the County Hunter from the Daily Log as a new county.
Reset NewCountry Flag to 'NO' in GetCountry name routine before the selection. Reset the
'RunAutoF4' Flag to 'NO' after filing the record. Changed maximum number of contacts in
Daily Log to 22,000 Added a Daily Log Utility Menu which provides for transferring
records from the Daily Log Log.Dat file to an Archive file named Log_Arch.Dat. This
Archive file has a capacity of 40,000 records and may be increased later. This menu is
under the "Utilities" button at the top of the screen. When a call is entered
into the Daily Log, the Archive file is searched first and if any records are found, the
record number will begin with an "A#" meaning they were found in the Archive
file. Records found in the current Log.Dat file will be marked with a "DL#". The
F6 routine will search the Archive before searching the current Log.Dat file. The F8 and
F10 routines do not access the Archive file. This applies also to the Daily Log Print
Version 1.9a June 29, 2001
Modified the WACA routine to search the County Hunter ch95.dat file from the end of the
file instead of the beginning. Fixed several of the popup boxes that mentioned the WAS
instead of the WACA.
Added ASCII output file (Co_Sort.TXT) for VIEW Menu "All Counties Submitted Sorted by
County". Added ASCII output file (Co_Sort2.TXT) for Print Data From County Hunter
File Menu Choice 9. Added ASCII output file (Co_Sort3.TXT) for Print Data From County
Hunter File Menu Choice 8. The "Print Data" menu is under the County Hunter
Print Menu under the FILE button in the upper left hand corner. These files will overwrite
an existing file with the same name and will be in the Win1010 folder.
When starting Win1010 in the Daily Log mode, the popup window "Daily Log Already
Running" would popup at the wrong time in several combinations of keystrokes. This
was fiixed. When checking for contacts in the County Hunter, the 10X number is now used.
This will pickup mobiles and old calls and display these calls in the small display
Version 1.9 April 19, 2001
Added attribute-setting routine if the user_95.dat file is write
protected, when changing QTH or Call in the Options Misc Menu. Some CD burners will set
the Attribute of all files on the CD to 'Write Only'. Added a new item to the Help Menu to
display the file "What's New" for the current version. It is basically the same
as this section, but is in the RTF format which may be easier to read. Modified the main
Win1010 Setup program to create the blank folders needed. The blank chapters and seals are
also unzipped in the Setup program, but on some computers, the unzipping is not done and
this will be done as usual the first time the Certificate Chaser is run.
Revised Contest Log Comma Delimited export not to have any trailing blank spaces. Added
Mode indicator at end of record. Removed false requirement to have a contest log loaded
for ADIF import. Fixed mobile stations triggering the "Call doesn't match the 10X
number" popup warning message.
A MAJOR CHANGE in the BAR indicators is being introduced. In the past,
'Y' and 'N' were used to indicate whether a record had been used for a BAR Award. In this
old method, the 'Y' also referred to the 2nd, 3rd, etc occurrence of a 10X, VP, etc and
was confusing. The various VIEW displays of all records submitted with a 'Y' could include
dupes if a 2nd, 3rd, etc occurrence was also marked with the 'Y' meaning that it was not
available for use for a BAR Award. The new indicator convention will now use the 'U'
indicator to indicate that a record is Unavailable or Unuseable for a BAR Award. For new
users this change will be automatic, but for existing users, an indicator update routine
will have to be run once. These routines are on the 'Reset Indicators' menu in the County
Hunter Utilities Menu. Revised 'Reset Indicators' form to include an option to update the
10X, VP, CW and Mobile BAR indicators to 'U' for the 2nd, 3rd, etc occurrence. An ASCII
file is created for future reference, if needed. These four routines should be run by all
current users of Win1010. A popup message was added to the program start-up to remind old
users to run these four Indicator Update routines. It should only be shown one time. Added
a Scorebox that pops up whenever the County Hunter is run. It can be removed by clicking
on the Scorebox. It can be shown again by clicking on the 'SCORE' button. There is an
option in the CH/DL Options Menu to update the score with every new record. The default is
OFF. This Score Box can also be seen in the Daily Log. When the F5 key is hit, the
first matching call was displayed, but now any other matches are displayed in the small
display window along with the CH record number. To display additional records with the
same call, hit the F5 key again and enter the next displayed record number. After the
first "hit", the balance of the CH file is searched by 10X. This will list any
new vanity call as well as mobile operation. The 10X validation routine was reworked. A
mobile was not being recognized as the valid call and sometimes false warnings were given.
There is an option to check in the CH/DL Options Menu to turn this Off or On. The VIEW
"Unused VP Numbers for BAR Award" has been modified to add an option to view the
list in a sorted display. Also a printout option for this new display was added. Added
Option in CH/DL Options Menu to enter the date you got your VP Number. This will be used
in the VP QSO validation routine to make sure you are not entering a VP QSO before you
received your own VP number. This date is also used in the View "All Worked VP
Numbers", View "All Unsubmitted VP Numbers" and the 100 VP BAR Application.
No QSO's will be displayed or used before this date. If you don't know your exact date, an
approximate date can be found in KB0ON's MastrVP program or email K4HAV. The use of this
VP Date is optional. A note was added on the popup box for the membership expiration date
to enter '10Life' for a lifetime membership. When the application is printed the date will
be printed as 10X-LIFE. This applies to all Awards applications. A six digit number such
as 999999 could also be used to signify lifetime membership. Added a separate View Menu
item for the Sorted VP Unused Display.
If entire Daily Log was being displayed, editing by hitting the F5 key, filed the correct
edit, however the edited record was shown on the screen display in the wrong place.
Hitting the REF to refresh the display corrected the display. This has been changed to
only show the edited record if it was edited by double-clicking on the record. The F5 edit
routine will not show the change until the REF button is hit. Added additional records in
Daily Log when F5 key was hit to the small info display window. The 10X validation routine
was reworked. A mobile was not being recognized as the valid call and sometimes false
warnings were given. There is an option to check in the CH/DL Options Menu to turn this
Off or On.
Fixed the F4/F5 printout leaving off the last record. Fixed the WAS ASCII output
file. The heading had WACA instead of WAS. Changed the WAS and WACA Search routine to
start at the end of the file and go backward. This will find the last date worked. Also
added an option to start search with an user-designated starting date. An option to allow
duplicate stations for two or more states was added to the WAS Award. Since the
calls found are in order that they were entered, it is possible that a mobile station
might be the first found in several states. This option (if answered 'NO') forces
the WAS routine to find another call and not to use the mobile station again. Fixed
CLEAR button for not reseting the point values to zero. In certain conditions, this could
lead to a negative new point value. As long as a record was entered or edited by using the
F1 key, the point values were
correct. This negative point condition would occur if you started to edit a record and
then changed your mind and hit the CLEAR button.
Version 1.8e January 17, 2001
The Options Menu CH/DL page has an option to turn off the 10X verification routine for the
County Hunter. The default is ON.
A fix applied in version 1.8d caused the FCC data not to be automatically inserted into
the Daily Log if that AutoInsert Option was chosen. The offending line of code was moved
to the end of the FCC routine to fix. The Options Menu StartUp mode now has an option to
start Win1010 in the Daily Log mode. The Options Menu CH/DL page has an option to turn off
the 10X verification routine. The default is ON.
Version 1.8d January 15, 2001
Fixed some gray-scale backgrounds that did not display correctly when
running Windows 2000. Also added a Windows O/S checking routine that sets the proper path
to Notepad and Wordpad, which are used in the display of some of the Help Files. The
location of these files in Windows NT/2000 is different from Win95/98. After using
XXIP or the FCC database red buttons, sometimes the cursor would not return to the Call
field. This was fixed.
No new features
Added an option to the 10X WAS VIEW and PRINT routine to use the County Hunter QSL
Indicator as a test for the records included. If the QSL = 2, then that record will be
used for that state. The 10X WAS award does require a QSL for the application. Added
option to 10X WAS View to make a printout of the Unworked States as displayed at the top
of the 10X WAS VIEW display. Added 10X checking to make sure call and 10X match.
(Up-to-date 1010 database needed for best results.)
Revised F12 routine to display 2000 DX stations in year 2000 to now display 3000 records.
Added support for the new "Work the Numbers" Challenge for 2001
to the Daily Log Print routine (Button #7). This will display all the 10X numbers in the
Daily Log from 10X-28000 to 10X-29700 that have ever been worked (for info only) or the
ones that have been worked in the year of 2001. After the display is an option to make a
printout. This printout will be in two columns with 160 records per page. The display and
printout are sorted and duped by 10X number. Added 10X checking to make sure call and 10X
match. (Up-to-date 1010 database needed for best results.) After call is entered into
Daily Log, the County Hunter file is checked and if that CALL is in the County Hunter
file, then all the dates are shown after the dates that CALL was worked in the Daily Log.
This does not search on the 10X number, only the CALL. Therefore this routine will not
find the old calls if a new call is now being used. Added "R" to repeat last
date. If you are entering contacts from another log, you can hit "r" or
"R" and it will repeat the last date. NOTE: date logged may be
adjusted for GMT time if time is near the end of the day.
Version 1.8c October 31, 2000
Added to Main Options Menu under MISC a routine to change the user's call
if he has upgraded or has a new vanity call. On several occasions the User_95.dat file has
its attribute set as "Read Only" and this routine will cause a RunTime Error.
This has happened on occasion when copying the User_95.dat file from a CD. If this RTE is
noted, then simply just change the attribute on the User_95.dat file to Read and Write by
right clicking on the file in the Explorer and hitting Properties.
Added to the Chapter WAS Award Display/Printout an option to first display all the Chapter
members sorted by State, 10X, and Chapter number. Also the County Hunter QSL indicator is
shown along with the last date in the County Hunter or Daily Log records. This display
also has a printout option which can be used to insert wild cards into the WAS Award
Added a routine to force the first "Open New Contest File" folder to be the
default Win1010 folder. In previous versions, the first opening folder would default to
the "My Documents" folder until changed to Win1010. Added PSK Mode to the
various Export routines.
Added Mode support for PSK.
Added Mode support for PSK. Added a new routine in the Daily Log Print Menu to print all
records by Mode only. This can be used to make a printout of all your PSK contacts or all
your CW, etc. contacts.
Version 1.8b September 26, 2000
Modified the VIEW All VP's submitted to be a sorted list. Also the printout was modified
to only print the VP numbers with 50 per column and 11 columns per page making 550 VP's on
a single page.
Version 1.8a, September 14, 2000
Added error trap in the CallBook CD search routine to bypass an error.
Added pop-up message to alert user that a file has already been deactivated. This might
happen if you did a fresh install and then restored a backup. In that case the
ChapterFileName.CHP and also the ChapterFileName.OLD would both be present, if that
chapter had been deactivated in the past.
Added an error routine that will indicate a bad record in a contest file, when resuming a
contest. This will continue to load past the bad record, which can be edited later. If the
record is corrupt, it can be deleted by using the Edit Contest Routine by double-clicking
on the record in the log display window. Added routine to dupe the DB95.DAT (default
Contest Database file) by 10X numbers. This will display all records that have duplicate
10X numbers. There is a printout available. The ADIF Import routine did not handle 10
digit calls properly. Fixed.
Modified the VIEW Counties Submitted in 10X Order and Co Order to allow for the new Y2K
Award Formats. This display is taken from the Co_BAR.DAT file which format was changed
with the new Y2K Award Application formats. These revised VIEW routine read both formats.
Added Reminder Note on County Hunter Startup to use ENTER key, not TAB to move between
fields. Removed extraneous call display from "Counties Not Worked in a State"
Added Reminder Note on Daily Log Startup to use ENTER key, not TAB to move between fields.
The REF (Refresh log display) did not include the QSL field. Fixed. In the Comma Delimited
output file, the QSL indicator was set to zero if if was blank as would be the case for
Daily Log records entered before Version 1.5c released November 6, 1999. Added Comma
Delimited output file option to Range Printout. Modified F8 routine which compares the
Daily Log to the County Hunter and displays any 10X, VP, County or Prefix that is in the
DL, but not in the CH to also include an AUTO-TRANSFER routine that will export these
records to the County Hunter. The only records that will not be transferred will be new
Counties or Prefixes of those records whose 10X is already in the County Hunter. A
separate list of these can be obtained by rerunning the F8 and displaying only and
manually entered into the County Hunter. Added a trap to make sure a filed Daily Log new
record is not filed using the last record number in the County Hunter.
Version 1.8, July 31, 2000
On startup, the date of the FCC database is compared to the FCC index
files and if not the same, a popup message alerts the user to possible runtime errors if
non-matching index files are used. Added trap on all programs to guard against entry of
invalid state abbreviations such as ILL or WIS. If a 3 letter QTH is entered then a popup
message will appear as a warning. In all cases where WordPad is used to display a Help
File, a trap was added in case Windows 2000 was being used to alert the user that
WordPad.EXE is stored in a different location for Windows2000 and a copy will have to be
moved to the default Windows 95/98 location and path. Added popup message to auto
insert VP number option to remind the user to only use this option if he already has a VP
number. Modified the Setup program to also add a program entry and desktop icon for the
10X.EXE program which is a Windows based 10X and VP search stand-alone program that is
very small and loads very fast.
Added popup message upon Program Exit if Post Contest Mode had been activated, not to
forget to reset your date to current date. Fixed the F12 CQ Loop routine for using the
computer sound card. In the past, only the sample1.wav file would play when the F12 key
was pressed. Now the F12.WAV file will play if present, if not, then the sample1.wav file
Changed the F8 routine to include provisions for editing the DXBAR Indicator. Fixed the
View All CH Records display. Was not displaying the DXCC number. Added an optional display
and printout under the VIEW 'All 10X used for BAR' and 'All 10X not used for BAR'. This
display is in sorted order and the printout is only the 10X numbers 80 per column and 10
columns per page for a total of 800 10X numbers per page. Running the VIEW Routine popups
a box giving you the two display/print options - the regular VIEW printout which is 50
full records per page or the condensed printout which is 800 per page. Added Ctrl-G
routine to check all VP numbers in CH records to make sure the 10X number matches the
VP/10X database. Discrepancies are shown in the small display window. Added a popup
reminder of this routine in the VIEW "Unused VP Numbers" and the PRINT "VP
100 BAR" routines. This is similar to the existing F12 routine which has a printout;
however, the Ctrl-G routine can also be used in the Daily Log. Added routine for
manually-entered VP numbers to check the VP/10X database for accuracy. Added Option
for DX Award Application and View all DX Stations Worked to check the County Hunter QSL
indicator and only use those with the QSL=2, which means that a QSL card has been
received. The "Create DX Index" file routine also has the option to use only DX
Stations that have been QSLed as indicated by the County Hunter QSL indicator. Added
"Resume Next" to the routine that loads the County Hunter file. If stopped by an
error, it will continue to list the records. Later the Control-Y routine can be run to
delete any bad records and rewrite the file. Added Ctrl-Y routine to rewrite CH95.DAT file
by record numbers so that any corrupted records can be omitted. Removed red "New
County" indicator if a new county is edited with a non-new county.
Added a new F8 routine to compare the Daily Log to the County Hunter and display any 10X,
VP, County or Prefix that is not in the County Hunter file. This will find any records
that were not transferred to the County Hunter from the Daily Log. This search does not
consider zero 10X numbers in the Daily Log. A printout is available that prints 73 lines
per page. Duplicate contacts will be shown since the Daily Log is not duped. The display
is in order that the contacts were entered into the Daily Log. Added Ctrl-G routine
to check all VP numbers in DL records to make sure the 10X number matches the VP/10X
database. Discrepancies are shown in the small display window. Added routine for manually
entered VP numbers to check the VP/10X database for accuracy. Modified Comma Delimited
ASCII output file such that records with blank Cities and/or Misc fields will be zero
length fields instead of fields with blank spaces. Added ASCII File output option to the
F12 routine to display the unique 10X numbers worked during the Year 2000. Added ASCII
File output option to the #2 Daily Log Print routine to print a range of Daily Log
records. This ASCII file can be created without going on to the printout routine. Added
Ctrl-Y routine to rewrite Log.DAT file by record numbers so that any corrupted records can
be omitted. This is similar to the Ctrl-L routine. Removed red "New County"
indicator if a new county is edited with a non-new county.
Version 1.7, May 9, 2000
Modified all Call Checking routines so that a DX Prefix at the beginning
of a call does not prevent the FCC or Contest Database search from finding the call.
Modified DOB routine to find age. Was dividing by 365 days per year, but should have been
365.25 per year to allow for the extra day during leap year. Your age would be a year
older several days early.
Fixed the 1c Super Condensed Application routine for not properly zeroing the Seal Files.
Fixed Vanity Call Search (Control-V). If the old call was 4 letters and the new call was 4
letters, then the entire call was not given. Dupe checking by 10X was added to the export
Contest File to the DB95.DAT file. Also the '/M' was removed from Mobiles exported to the
DB95 file. Version 1.6 added 10X dupe checking to the Contest Program, but did not allow
for the duplicate non-10X numbers of zero. Fixed this oversight.
Added a Comma Delimited ASCII Export routine in the DL Print Menu. This makes the log.asc
file which can then be imported into the County Hunter using the CertChaser ASCII Import
routine. Option to export all records or just the unique 10X numbers. The Previous Dates
worked for stations not in the FCC database were not being displayed. The "Not in FCC
Database" was over-writing the dates.
Version 1.6, Mar. 8, 2000
Added to SETUP program option to create Win1010 Shortcut Desktop icon. On
CD Installs, a FCC entry will be placed on the Programs List when hitting the Start
button. Also a FCC Shortcut Icon will be placed on the desktop. Added trap to check for
the Control Panel "Regional Settings" Date Format. If not in the required
dd-mm-yyyy format a popup message will alert you of the possible Run Time Error #6 which
will probably happen if you are using the ddmmyyyy format. This setting is required for
the European Date Format.
Added popup reminder to be sure to open new contest file in the win1010 folder -- not in
the 'My Documents' folder Modified ADIF Contest Import routine to accept both
"TenTen" and Date formats. Added County Import support and error checking
routine to indicate which record number had caused an import error. Added extra 10X dupe
checking to prevent working station both as fixed and mobile. Added Auto insert 10X if not
in db95.dat Fixed Hitting ENTER to signify 'NO' County if County Input Mode is on. Added
trap to insure a contest file was loaded before running the Export routines.
When the CH and DL info was added to the F4 and F5 displays, a problem was introduced into
the editing routine if a second call was edited. This was fixed. Added new Control-F4
routine. This is similar to the F4 routine but the display is sorted by State. This will
allow you an easy way to find all the stations worked in a Chapter in a given state. The
station has to be in the County Hunter file to be displayed. The Chapter number and last
CH and DL worked dates are also displayed. Changed in the Super Condensed 1c Display, the
old label "New Contacts" to "Contacts with New Points". Then added
"New Contacts" label which are contacts with a zero Used Point value which
indicates a "New Contact"
The time was added to the F9 'Sort by Date' routine. Hitting the F12 Key while in the
County Hunter will compare the CoHunter records with the VP Database and report any VP
numbers that do not match. Added the F12 routine to the Help displays. This was added in a
previous version but not included on the screen display of the various F Keys. It will
search the VP database and compare the VP numbers in the County Hunter Program and point
out any differences. Added trap to prevent entering data while County Hunter file is
The time was added to the F9 'Sort by Date' routine. The F12 routine was modified to also
display the different DXCC Countries worked for 2000 (requested by DX Editor, N5MT). At
the end of the regular F12 display is an option to display the Countries worked in the
year 2000. Added to Options Menu an option to turn off 2000 in Y2K dupe checking. With
this option checked you can enter a station more than once per day in the Daily Log. This
was requested by a station who has already worked his 2000 in Y2K. Added trap to prevent
entering data while Daily Log file is loading.
Version 1.5g, Feb. 2, 2000
The FCC Search routine for VE calls was modified to prevent the RunTime
Error 5 on certain stations. Added provisions for displaying all calls that have two
different 10X numbers. This display is activated by hitting the F11 key while running the
Daily Log. The first display is sorted by calls and a second display sorted by 10X number
is also available.
Trap put in Control-R routine to Rename Seals or Chapters to make sure user is at a blank
screen. Modified the CLEAR button when editing Seals not to refresh the Chapter List in
the small left window. When adding new Chapters for new list, you won't have to scroll
back down to where you were. The ESC and Blue K button still resets the Chapter List back
to the top. In rare occasions the blank Chapters and Seals are not unzipped properly into
the Chapters and Updates folders. A new routine activated by hitting Control-A will
attempt to unzip these two files again. An error handling routine was added to the F4 and
F5 routines such that if a Chapter or Seal file has corrupted data, then when the error
occurs loading the file, you will be given the option to ignore the error and continue.
This will display the entire file including the bad records and then these bad records can
be removed by using the Control-Z (Zap) routine to rewrite the file minus the bad records.
Provisions added to use the "*" in the call sign to denote a club station. If
the "*" is also used for a new entry in the DB95.DAT database then the County
Hunter will pick up the correct 10X for the Club Station. The Red "New County"
flag was not being removed when filing a record which was a new county. Fixed also the
"New County" field when the new County was inserted by searching the FCC
database. It was being filed as a New County "Y" but the data field read
Provisions added to use the "*" in the call sign to denote a club station. If
the "*" is also used for a new entry in the DB95.DAT database then the Daily Log
will pick up the correct 10X for the Club Station. Added support for new Work 2000
Different 10X numbers in the Year 2000. This option displays all Year 2000 contacts with
different 10X numbers. This option is activated by hitting the F12 key. The contacts are
sorted by 10X number and only the first 2000 will be displayed or printed. The printout is
90 per column or 180 per page. 12 pages will be required for the entire 2000 call
printout. Added the F11 Option to display all calls that have two 10X numbers. The
second number may be that of a club station or the station may have forgot he had the
first number and applied for another number. Or the first number may belong to a Silent
Key and the second number belong to a new Vanity Call. This routine gets its info from the
dupe_10X.txt file, which can also be read with NotePad.
Version 1.5f3, January 9, 2000
The ASCII import routine into Chapters did not import the very last field. This was fixed.
The test file had other unused fields at the end of the record and this was not noticed
until reported by an user. The previous update had a form that was sent to the back during
updating and was not brought back to the front before compiling. This was the form that
displays the blue "H" and other displays.
Version 1.5f2, January 5, 2000
An ending date was added to the new Red Button #1 routine to handle several Chapters who
have monthly contests. Also a trap was added not to display a duplicate contact if there
were two instances of that call in the County Hunter. Normally there would not be, but if
a VP number or a new county was added later, then there could be two records. The Super
Condensed Chapter/Seal Application did not zero all the seals since the regular Condensed
Zero routine was used. A separate Zero routine was added.
Version 1.5f, January 4, 2000
Red Button #1 Chapter Display now offers added date option of last worked date to the
ASCII file output. This is required by the new GBTEN Award. The user enters the beginning
date to list contacts. This would be 01012000 for the new GBTEN Award or maybe different
for other requirements or Awards. Both the County Hunter and Daily Log are checked for the
last worked date. It is suggested that these GBTEN contacts be entered into the Daily Log.
Added Printout for Last List Log in 3 columns. Although the normal procedure for this
display/printout is to sort the Chapter numbers, it would also be possible to sort by 10X
or Callsign, if desired.
The printout for the Sorted All Counties by 10X or counties was modified to also accept
the new Y2K format. Fixed FCC Display for VE calls. Added Zip or other drive option to
CH/DL Backup routine.
Fixed FCC Display for VE calls. Removed Demo Mode Message for Y2K Contest. Fixed Edit
routine - was not allowing edits due to inclusion of new Y2K Contest routine. Also records
Deleted were not allowed due to the Y2K new provisions.
Version 1.5e, December 7, 1999
Added message to alert user which file is missing when starting Win1010 in
case the Error #53 - "File Not Found" occurs. Copies of all files can be found
on the original Win1010 CD in the Win1010 folder.
Added CW and Mobile Contest contacts to the Contest Export choices to the County Hunter
Fixed 10X BAR printout. The wrong two digits for the Year were being used and record
number 45 was printing on both pages. Fixed CW Display of all unused contacts. Was showing
Mobile contacts. Modified "View All Unused VP Numbers" display to change
duplicate "N" indicators to "Y". In the earlier version of the County
Hunter, a second entry of a call for a new county, mobile, cw, etc did not check for the
existing VP number and assigned the VPBAR the indicator of "N". This routine
will reset all the VPBAR indicators to the proper value and only leave one "N".
In the case that the VP has already been used and later entries have the "N",
then this possibility will have to be manually changed. The best way is to click on the VP
Heading and sort all the VP numbers. Scan down the list to find any duplicates and check
the VPBAR indicators. Manually edit any that might be wrong. If the first occurrence by CH
record number is "Y", then the rest should also be "Y"
Added option to turn off auto-CH from CC in CC Options Menu.
Version 1.5d, Nov 30, 1999
Added Control-Z routine to rewrite segments of corrupt Chapter and Seal files. This
operates only from the F4 and F5 displays. Has option for a backup of the file to a floppy
and renaming when finished. This can also be used to remove "Deleted" records
from a Chapter or Seal file. Control-L - added option (type a zero) to abort operation.
Added support for the European date format for the date display.
After all the Award printouts were modified for the new Y2K formats, a couple of bugs were
reported and fixed: (1) Fixed the option to print a second copy of the VP BAR Application.
(2) Fixed the printout of the 10X BAR Application skipping records 46 to 55. Added pop-up
messages warning to recreate the PXIndex and DXIndex files if you run the "Remove
Deleted Records in the County Hunter" routine. The PXIndex and DXIndex stores the
callsign by the CH record number and if a record is removed, then every record number down
the line is altered, which makes the PXIndex and DXIndex not accurate. Added support for
the European date format for the CH date input field. Revised "Display All VP's
Worked" in the View Menu to make the list sorted by VP number and option for a
printout of just the VP Numbers in columns of 50 for a total of 550 VP Numbers per page.
This makes a nice printed sorted list of All Worked VP Numbers.
Added support for the European date format for the DL date input field. If printing a
range of records, the range is now printed in the heading. Added a list of previous dates
a station was worked in the Daily Log. This list is displayed in the small display window
after the call is entered. Only the call is searched - not the 10X, so the dates are only
for the call as entered. Old calls would not be found in this routine.
Version 1.5c, Nov 4, 1999
Wrote in trap for negative GMT Offset values to use correct date. This
change was made in the CH, DL and Contest Programs. The County Hunter path was removed
from the Options Menu. This was used with the Contest program and the DOS County Hunter
before the Win1010 County Hunter was written. Modified the FCC routines to use new FCC
Format which now includes the date of the License and the Expiration date of the License.
The FCC routine also has auto-provisions to use the old version of the FCC files in case
the new version files are not used.
Fixed Contest Log export to Daily Log -- removed an extra message box. Removed 3 point
scoring for DX Stations. Moved the 10X in the DB button contest display to the 2nd column.
Added Mode choice (SSB, CW, AM, FM, RTTY) for contest log export. When adding new calls to
DB95, the fields are now cleared ready for the next one to add.
Fixed the FCC insertion of the County. It was being entered into the county field, but was
not being filed. Fixed F6 - Sometimes did not show all the info. Modified all 1010
Award Applications to comply with new Y2K formats. Added Mode Options of AM, FM and RTTY.
Added option on CH Utilities Menu under the Reset Indicators to reset all VP numbers to
zero. One User had auto-entered many VP numbers before he received his VP number, so these
contacts were not valid VP contacts. So instead of editing each record back to zero, use
this routine and let the computer do it for you.
Added routine to exit to County Hunter to add Call/10X not in County Hunter. After call is
entered, the screen is returned to the Certificate Chaser. Added popup message
"Searching For Chapters - Standby" to inform user that program is working during
the search. Adjusted date for GMT Offset. Date is updated by hitting ESC or Blue K. Added
new Red Button "ML" for My List. This makes a display/printout of the Win1010
owner's Chapters and Seals. Printout is 2 columns of 60 per column for 120 per page. An
ASCII output is also available. See Help File for more info. Red Button #4 printout
modified to include Chap Names. Modified ASCII import routine to handle a mixed quotes and
no quotes in the various fields. Fixed Chapter number with Suffix combined routine so that
it separates the Chapter Number from the Suffix. Added trap to prevent RTE 381 if hit
Right-Click before Chapter List is finished loading. Added option for printout of Cert
Chasers in CH list. Revised condensed 1c application output to include an option for a
more compact version. Now there are two condensed formats available. Revised the F4 full
display of Chapter info to include CH data and last date worked in Daily Log. Hitting the
Alt-Click will make a printout. However, there is so much info that a size 8 font has to
be used. 85 records are printed per page.
Fixed F6 - Sometimes did not show all the info. F6 now works during short display of Daily
Log. The F5, F10 and double-click Edit also works now with the short display (such as the
last 50 records). Added Mode Options of AM, FM and RTTY. Added QSL info to DL data input.
Adjusted DL printout to include the QSL info and added trap to prevent the sometime double
spacing. Added special 2000 in 2000 printout in the "Print Range" mode for the
new Y2K contest. This prints 4 columns and 340 to the page in the font size of 7 points.
This option only prints the QSO number, date, call and 10X and will be retained after the
Y2K contest is over. Added trap to the auto-F4 routine to prevent zero 10X numbers being
filed into the CH. Added free non-registered use of the Daily Log from NOW until
01-01-2001 for the new Work 2000 in 2000 Contest. Added trap to prevent 2nd QSO with same
station being logged with same date.
Version 1.5b, Aug 21, 1999
Added Option to remove beep from warning msg in contest program to prevent beeps from
activating VOX when using the Sound Card as a Voice Keyer. This option is not saved to the
config file and has to be reset every time the program runs. Added Contest Export to Daily
Log. Added Beam Heading Display and Printout activated by Control-M.
Modified VP View routines not to show duplicate VP's for cases like mobiles with VP
numbers in different counties.
Fixed File Menu #10 for not properly importing the DBTEN Prefix Used indicator. Added VP
worked date to DBTEN import routine. The tenx.dat date is updated with the VP date if it
is later. Added more fields to the DL and CH ASCII import routine. Added Seal Totals at
bottom of "1c" Condensed Seal Application. Added Ctrl-P to make printout of
Chapter or Seal List for RB#3 and also All Seals List for RB#4.
Version 1.5a, Aug 3, 1999
Added ASCII import routine for CH, DL and CertChaser (In CC Files Menu).
Changes to County Hunter:
Fixed F6 to display all calls for a given 10X. View all submitted Prefixes with
"Y" is now sorted by callsign.
Changes to Daily Log:
Fixed F6 to display all calls for a given 10X. When editing a DL record, now the
records in the CH for that same 10X is displayed for your info -- one or more of these CH
records may also need to be edited.
Changes to Certificate Chaser:
Now also checks 10X in CH95.DAT file before transferring call to CH records. This prevents
new vanity calls from be auto-transferred to CH. The WAS routine now makes sure the last
worked date for the selected call in the desired state was also in that state. Before this
modification, it was possible to work a station mobile in a different state later and that
date was used for the WAS last date worked (which was in the wrong state). A separate
ASCII Import Help File is available on the ASCII Routine screen.
Version 1.5, July 22, 1999
Added Trap for RTE 76 (path not found) for XXIP database. Fixed XXIP so
will also work after all fields are filled in. Added routine not to show 640x480 message
on startup if the Daily Log has at least one QSO entered. Fixed incorrect next record
number after "Removing Deleted Records from CH and DL".
Changes to County Hunter:
Added Trap in CH to prevent a bad CoNr from giving a RTE 9. Added hard-coded Courier font
specification to CoBAR and other printouts. Added trap when double-clicking multiple
records to edit without hitting the blue "K" to clear. When the "K"
was finally hit the next record added was added at the record where the "K" was
hit overwriting the existing record. This did not happen if the "K" was hit to
remove the current record being edited. Fixed Using F5 in CH or DL refreshes the
highlighted record not the rec # in the F5 box. Fixed on a dupe call, hitting
"YES" to abort put in a random name, 10X and QTH in error. Added "CC"
to the Reset Indicators routine. Use F6 in CH and DL to display full records in larger
Changes to Certificate Chaser:
Removed Hour Glass from "1c" display if there are no Seals. Added recap at
bottom for this display. Added CHUser.TXT file which indicates in light green users of the
Win1010CH program. List also displayed by hitting Ctrl-U. Added personal points to RB#1
display. Ctrl-L Now displays results after entry. Added Delete routine to F4 and F5. Added
Seal Totals to 1c (but total is not changed if deleting a Seal that has a value. This must
be edited in the ASCII file later.) Increased Seal capacity from 600 to 1000. Added ASCII
output file for WAS and WACA Application. Added Resize feature to Files Menu. The 'Import
Now' button is now visible at the 640x480 resolution. Corrected import of
"Certificate Chaser" indicator from DBTEN database. This routine was
"unfixed" while doing the 1.4d update. Added F11 to display all CH and DL
records in large window w/printout. The status of the VP number is displayed in the small
window whenever the RB#3 routine is run. Status shows: No VP, Worked VP or New VP. Added
ASCII Applications to RB#8 with NotePad support for Edit/Printing. Took out extra OK in
Default Backup -- added scroll to Zip Backup display. Ctrl-R when renames Chapters also
renames corresponding Seals and Family. Fixed RTE 62 the first time the Radio Amateur
CallBook CD was used. Fixed RTE 5 when adding new Chapter when not in the regular Edit
Mode (Red Button #3). Fixed RTE 5 if double-click on F8 Seals display instead of hitting
the normal CLEAR button. Started ASCII and Spreadsheet Import routine. Will finish for
Version 1.4d2, June 15, 1999
Moved the Blue DELETE Button down to its proper position in the CH and DL
Edit routine. Added a routine to set the CC Color Defaults if upgrading from 1.4c or
earlier, which did not use the Color Change Menu. Unless this is done, then the CC screen
background will be black (color = zero). Removed the dupe checking routine for a zero Seal
Version 1.4d, June 8, 1999
Fixed the XXIP search to accurately find 4 letter calls. In some cases a 5
or 6 letter call would be displayed that matched the first four letters
of the call being searched. Added provisions to manually edit the 1010.txt file. However,
this file is updated with 200-300 new changes every month and the updated file is posted
on the hds.net web page. This option is under the Database Utilities. Removed the
Calculator from the Utility Menu and is now activated by hitting Ctrl-A.
County Hunter: Added F10 to search or edit a call by 10X number. The
existing F10 routine "CheckLog for CH" was moved to F11. F10 seemed the better
key for a 10X search than F11. Fixed VP search when entering a VP number. Adding the
Certificate Chaser had caused the routine not to work. Added routine to enter 10X in call
field and will be converted file. Added routine to delete a record in the County Hunter.
When you edit a record you will see a Blue "DELETE" button. Clicking on this
will set the call to "DELETED". Then run the "Remove Deleted Records in the
CH" on the Utility Menu.
Daily Log: Added Auto-Insert Option to insert County, City, and State
from the FCC Database. Added F10 to search or edit a call by 10X number. Added routine to
enter 10X in call field and will be converted into call. Fixed a 5 letter call finding a
matching 6 letter call in the db95.dat
file. Added routine to delete a record in the Daily Log. When you edit a record you will
see a Blue "DELETE" button. Clicking on this will set the
call to "DELETED". Then run the "Remove Deleted Records in the DL" on
the Utility Menu.
Certificate Chaser: Re-designed the CC screen to move the most used
routines to the bottom of the screen. This also makes the CC screen
compatible with the CH & DL Screens. Removed two red buttons for global changing of
calls and 10X and moved to the F9 and F10 keys to add more display room for the display
windows. Added last date worked to info screen when editing Chapter/Seal info. Added
"*.OLD" QRT Chapters/Seals to the Backup and Restore routines. Also added the
previous backed up items that had to be manually restored to the full restore routines.
The default and Zip backup now deletes the existing backed up files before the new backup.
Added the date and GMT display. Added Red Button #17 on Files Menu to make a printout of
the DBTEN files. There are 8 columns with 70 files per column or 560 files per page. Added
a Selective Backup routine that will backup one file at a time. Fixed Previous Points in
the Seal Application with new points only. Added Ctrl-L to add Call to the List.Log file.
This is the date of the List Upgrade. You can enter a date or accept the computer date. To
display this sorted list hit the F12 Key. This List Date will also appear in the County
Hunter info displayed in the Red Button #3 routine to edit Chapter or Seal Info. Fixed the
Run Time Error (RTE) 380 while importing DBTEN Contest or Daily Log files that were blank.
This error only occurred when trying to read a zero length file. Added the Color Change
Menu. The CC background screen color can be changed to suit the user's color taste. The
Seal import routine for the first version of DBTEN was added. It was left out of the last
version. The DBTEN Log import to the CH and DL must have the VPxxxx in the Notes part of
the log. If the 'VP' is not present then this field will be skipped. The VP BAR
used/unused info from the DBTEN database is now included with the import routine to the
County Hunter. It can be run again for present users to add the VP info. You don't have to
delete the ch95.dat file to run this routine again (Files Menu item #10). Added the
Condensed Chapter/Seal Application routine. This is run by clicking on the Red Button 1c.
This will provide both an ASCII file and a printout. See the Cert Help file for more info.
Added more blank seals bring the total to 419 with 135 Chapters.
Version 1.4c, May 19, 1999
Certificate Chaser: Added 10X BAR info from DBTEN's
tenx.dat file when importing on File Menu Options #9 and #10. Also added DBTEN's WPX info
using #9 and #10. Corrected total records for Chapter printout. Had not subtracted off any
records that had been deleted. Total records were the same as the total records in the
file. If no deleted records were in the old version, then the total was correct. Added a
2nd trap to make sure no blank DBTEN records were imported into the CH95.DAT file. The
ASCII Chapter/Seal Application has been moved to the win1010\apps folder. Added Cert Menu
Option to use the County Hunter CH95.DAT file to determine if a QSL had been received for
the WAS and WACA printout. If checked then only records in the CH that have a QSL=2 will
be used. Some WAS/WACA Awards require a QSL and this will be an easy way to make sure the
right call is used. This will be added to the CH in a later update.
County Hunter: Added Ctrl-L to allow user to chop off part of CH95.DAT
file. If you had imported DBTEN tenx.dat file into an existing CH95.DAT and got corrupted
records then (if you did not have a backup) you can use this option to cut the file back
to the original record number. Added Fixed Spaced fonts to some County Hunter printouts.
This was the default, but if a proportional font was used for another printout first, then
the font stayed in that style. Now the Fixed Spaced font is hard-coded in. The printout
was ok as long as it was the first printout during that program session.
Version 1.4b, May 13, 1999
When starting Win1010 in the County Hunter Mode, an Runtime Error #5 was
triggered when the focus was set when the form was not visible. There was no harm done
since hitting the ESC key sets the focus after the County Hunter Screen is displayed. This
update fixes that problem. All
recent testing was done starting Win1010 in the CC mode and this was not noticed until
reported. Also on CC startup if there are not Active
Chapters a message will be displayed to that effect. Revised ASCII output file name to be
same as Chapter i.e., ChapterName.APP. Added trap to prevent RTE 381 if creating new
Chapter if no other Chapters are in the Chapter Display.
Version 1.4a, May 12, 1999
Removed KZ5 Canal Zone from the Prefix File (CTY_AZ95.TXT). This is a
deleted DXCC Country and the KZ5 prefix is now being using in the U.S. 5th call area.
Changed Alaska and Hawaii spelling to AK and HI so the WAS and WACA routines will find
Daily Log: Updated Edit Date Routine and made editing real-time with
edits appearing in the display window. Added Option in CH/DL Option Menu to only load the
last 1, 50, the last 500 or ALL records. Revised TopIndex after new record so will always
be visible at bottom of display. Added the F9 routine to sort the Daily Log by dates and
rewrite. Added Auto-F4 routine option so that if a new 10X, VP, County, Prefix or DX
Country is worked, then it will automatically be filed into the County Hunter records if
this option is checked in the CH\DL Options Menu.
County Hunter: Updated Edit Date Routine, can now edit with the dashes in
the field. Fixed Edits via the F5 key. Fixed inability to Edit VPBAR from Y to N.
Certificate Chaser: Consolidated most operations to a single routine.
Added F2, F3, F4, F5, F6, F7 and F8 routines (See Help for info). Added in RB#3 routine to
list all Seals for a selected Chapter and now you can edit existing Seals or add new Seal
numbers. The #3 routine automatically is run whenever a call is entered. Fixed Hawaii and
Alaska DBTEN tenx.dat import routine to recognize DXCC numbers for HI and AK. Added option
to Main Options Menu "Misc" area to start Win1010 in Certificate Chaser Mode.
Added WACA routine. Added Expanded Backup and Restore routine. Added Ctrl-C, Ctrl-F,
Ctrl-K, Ctrl-R and Ctrl-S routines.
Version 1.4, April 13, 1999
Updated CTY_AZ95.TXT file with DXCC country number for Alaska and Hawaii.
Added other new prefixes.
Daily Log: Added Ctrl-L to fix a corrupt log.dat file caused by
cross-linked files. See the Help file for more info.
County Hunter: Added Certificate Chaser module.
Fixed VPBAR not giving correct indicator for duplicate contacts entered. The edited record
is updated in the log display after the edit now and hitting the REF button is not
required to see the change. Added trap to prevent a blank space in the call field at
beginning of call.
Contest Program: Added trap to prevent a blank space in the call
field at beginning of call.
Version 1.3c, February 19, 1999
Reworked Contest routine for automatic DX Country recognition. Was not
working properly for U.S. stations DX/portable. Reworked DX beam heading and distance
routine to give info after call is entered. Added option in Daily Log to turn off beep if
new 10X, VP, PX, or DX in County Hunter data file. Wrote trap in CH/DL time routine to
prevent entering an invalid time. This prevents a program crash if time entered is larger
than 2359. Added option in Contest Printouts to add a blank line at top of page. Once
option is invoked, all Contest Printouts will have blank line until exit Print routine.
The Contest Dupesheet heading did not include the DX and VE contacts in the total QSO
number, however the dupe sheet and recap were correct. Added option to print results of F6
search in the County Hunter. F6 now also finds /Mobiles or /xyz if call sign is entered.
Added option (F9 key) to sort the ch95.dat file by date and rewrite. This will put all
your County Hunter records in date order. Be sure to make a Backup before running this
routine as a precaution. Added County Hunter Option (F4 key) to display/print all
duplicate 10X numbers. This list is sorted by 10X number. A CheckLog routine was added for
the County Hunter and is activated by hitting the F10 key. This is similar to the Contest
CheckLog. It spots potential errors in the ch95.dat file. Changed CH/DL time and date
input routines to only accept numbers and the BAR indicators to only accept "Y"
or "N". See the help files for more info. Under certain conditions, several of
the Contest Log Export into the County Hunter did not function. This was fixed.
Version 1.3b, February 1, 1999
A dimension statement was not saved after entering and testing for the
Daily Log Print-out routine. This was fixed. Added a display of all VP numbers with the
10X and Callsign under the View Menu for VP Displays. Added option to edit the DXCC number
in the County Hunter records by hitting the F8 key. Updated the Prefix list (cty_az95.txt)
with many new DX prefixes and the newest ARRL DXCC countries.
Version 1.3a, January 26, 1999
In haste to post version 1.3, several of the routines added was not
thoroughly tested and did not work properly. This update corrects those items not working
right and adds several new features. The red VP button routine has been changed. If there
is a call in the call field, then hitting the red VP button will display the VP number and
10X. If there is no call in the call field, then an input box will ask for a VP number and
the call and other info will be displayed. There is a check box on the Options County
Hunter Menu to trigger the automatic entry of the VP number, assuming that the station has
a VP. The VP will be entered in all the programs. The default setting is No Entry, so if
you are a VP member, you can check the check box and all VP's in the database that you
work will be entered into the Contest, County Hunter or Daily Log, depending on which
program you are running at the time. This one check box controls all programs. The VP
database was expanded from 3000 records to 3500 and the revised VP.DAT with 3007 records
Version 1.3, January 20, 1999 - Daily Logging
Some of these changes were added to Version 1.2b which was not posted. The
Full CH Data Printout was putting in the null character for the city, if the city field
was left blank. This null character was changed to the standard blank space. An option on
the County Hunter Option Menu to utilize the European Date Format of DD/MM/YYYY. The Date
routine uses the US Date format of MM/DD/YYYY and the European users were having a problem
with the Date routine for day numbers higher than 12. On the County Hunter Refresh
routine, the County and VP displays were reversed - fixed. Hitting Control-C after
entering a wrong "NewCounty" to edit and then hitting zero for no county gave a
"bad record number" error - fixed. Added traps to the County Hunter Date and
Time input fields to check for valid input. Added Daily Log Program which can be used by
either Win1010 or Win1010CH registered users. If not registered for either, then it runs
in the 25 QSO limit demo mode. Added F7 - Search County Hunter for QSO on or after search
date. Added Daily Log Help file. The County Hunter Create Prefix Index routine had problem
detecting the new prefix of J3 if the J37 prefix was worked first - fixed.
Version 1.2a, December 7, 1998
While making some changes in the Country by Prefix display, I bypassed the
sort routine in Version 1.2. Now the display is sorted again. Added two new Countries to
the CTY_AZ95.TXT file. Micronesia (V6) and Temotu Province (H40). Added a trap to insure
that the old DOS ch.dat file is converted when the County Hunter is not running. Convert
from the Contest Program. Two "EXIT SUB" commands were inserted in the Print 10X
Bar and VP Bar routines by mistake after everything was checked out and as a result the
BAR indicators nor the 10X_BAR or VP_BAR files are written. If you have printed a 10X or
VP BAR application, you will need to reprint it to set the BAR indicators. Sorry for this
Version 1.2, November 19, 1998 (Post Sprint Contest
Suggestions Added + County Hunter Module)
Modified FCC search routine to strip off the /Mobile before search. Added
AP3/KP3/NP3/WP3 prefixes for Puerto. Added KG4 and VE9 prefix. Fixed ADIF export for 1010
Sprint - removed extra <eor>. Added AH7/KH7/NH7/WH7 for Hawaii. Changed max length
of QTH edit from 12 to 15 digits. Fixed missing first letter of call input after filing
QSO with the F1 key. Added DX country name display after entering call. Added in method in
Option Menu to save the column widths for the Contest and CH Log. After entering a call,
the default database is checked -- if call is not found then the 1010.TXT file is checked
for a 10X number and if found, it is entered in the 10X field. Fixed finding wrong call in
Contest Database and FCC Database when a short call was searched such as WD4KK. This would
find WD4KKD in FCC and WD4KKG in DB95.DAT. Wrote trap to correctly interpret DX calls
beginning with a number and having the letter 'D' or 'E' as the second digit, such as
3D6XX. Visual Basic interprets the 'D' or 'E' as an Exponent indicator when evaluating the
Made Check for 10X Number (Red 10X Button) input box remain on screen for
second search. Hit ESCAPE to cancel. Added Countdown box to splash screen to indicate
program's progress loading databases. Added County Hunter Module and can be accessed in
DEMO mode with a 25 record limit. Increased size of 1010.TXT file from 70,000 to
75,000 to allow for new 10X numbers above 70000. Added option to make an ASCII file of the
log and dupesheet. Use Print Log option #1 for the log and option #6 for the dupesheet.
The name of the ASCII file saved will be your callsign with a ".log" extension.
Added version number to title bar, also user's call and name of contest
log. Added new Control Key Ctrl-H to search the County Hunter ch95.dat file while
operating a contest. This will search either by Call or 10X. When you work someone in the
contest, you can hit Ctrl-H and tell him when you first worked (if it is in the CH). Added
provisions to run both Contest and County Hunter at same time. When leaving the County
Hunter hit the EXIT in the County Hunter Box with your Callsign. Then next time you hit
the County Hunter box the County Hunter screens will pop up and will not have to load the
ch95.dat file again. Thus making switching between the two as fast as hitting the CH Exit
key and the County Hunter menu label at the top of the screen. Note: hitting the
"X" in the top right hand corner will still close the program. Removed the
Help_PX.TXT file as no longer needed. That info is now read from the CTY_AZ95.DAT file. In
the past, when you added new prefixes to the CTY file, you also had to add the same one to
the Help_PX file.
Version 1.1, August 18, 1998 (Major Update
Many Post-Contest Suggestions Added)
Added to Options Menu option to AutoSave Log to Drive A: after
"X" number of QSO's (not saved to config file). Added option to put 10X number
in Call Field instead of Call. If 10X entered, then it is converted into call and the
Database searched and all info put in proper fields. Added to VIEW Menu option to display
log full screen showing only QSO's with Mobiles. Also added VIEW Menu option to display
log full screen showing only QSO's that have VP Numbers. Added to Export Menu a routine to
export into the County Hunter Program new VP numbers. This must be run after running the
Export New 10X to County Hunter routine. Added another method to move from field to field.
The Ctrl-Left Arrow and Ctrl-Right Arrow can be used. The Left Arrow and Right Arrow keys
are still used to edit within a field.
Added "VA" to the Canadian prefixes. "SAVEA" typed
into the Call Field will trigger a log backup to Drive A: -- This SAVEA is also used in
the DOS-based 1010 Contest Program. Added two new "log export to a file"
routines dealing with VP numbers. Modified Call input so that a mobile (K4HAV/M) will
check the basic call in the Database. Also if portable in a DX country (VK3/K4HAV) will
check database for info. But QTH inserted will be QTH in database, not the QTH associated
with the DX prefix. To get the proper QTH in the field, you will need to return the cursor
to the QTH field by hitting the Ctrl-Left Arrow Key to get back to the QTH field. Or you
can use the mouse and click in the QTH field. A new option in the Contest Setup Menu to
have the FCC database automatically put the County Name into the County Field. This county
is obtained from the Zip Code and the actual county may be different in a few cases, so it
must be confirmed over the air. This County Inserting routine can be activated in two
ways. (1) In the Contest Setup, check the "Always check the Default Address
Database" box and the "Auto Insert County from FCC Database" box. The FCC
Database must be chosen as the Default Address Database. This will display all the FCC
info and insert the County after the call is entered. (2) In the Contest Setup, check the
"Insert County from FCC Database" box and manually click the red FCC Button or
hit Alt-F to insert the County. A new FCC Index file system is used in the FCC search
routine if present in the FCC directory. If hard drive space is available, these Index
Files will speed up the FCC search routine up to 8 times, with access times of
approximately 1 second.
Added popup message box if DX portable prefix is at the end of the call.
For the automatic country name from prefix to work, the prefix has to be at the beginning
(VK3/K4HAV). This is also required for the 3 point scoring. Fixed red 10X button search
for short calls like N6JO. The N6JO string would be found first in the N6JOE call and
N6JOE info would be displayed for N6JO. There was no problem for calls like N5MT whose 10X
number comes before N5MTX or N5MTO. Rewrote Help section on using 2 logs for Club Station
or OM/XYL Team. Added popup County Selection window to Edit QSO routine.
Added manual popup County Selection window to QSO entry by hitting Ctrl-C.
Double-click on desired County to add to County Field. Wrote trap to prevent hitting an
"OH" when it should have been a zero. This trap means that each call must have
at least one number. Added option in Contest Utilities to "Duplicate Contest Log
File" with a "2" appended to the end of the log file. This can be used in
the 2nd log operation and is further explained in the Help File under two log operation.
Started separate Help File for the upcoming County Hunter Program. Access the County
Hunter Program by clicking on the "County Hunter" Menu item at the top of the
Added to the Setup and Update Package a small program named 10X.EXE which
is similar to the DOS Based 10Search and 10Search2 programs that was a part of the DOS
1010 Contest Package. This program loads fast and can be used to find 10X, VP and Calls.
It also displays a range of 10X and VP numbers. Removed the occurrence of the mystery
"H" that appeared sometimes when the F1 Key was used for filing. Added an
optional 256 character user comment to the Cover Page. See the Help File under Cover Page
for use. Added an Alpha-numeric DupeSheet format. Changed 10X and VP from a number input
routine to a text input - then read value of text which yields the 10X and VP numbers.
This removed the default zeroes in those two fields. Added option when "County Input
Mode" is on, to skip selection of County by hitting the zero key. When exiting
Win1010 by the "X" in the upper right part of the screen, the Win1010 program
would not be closed completely and would show up in the Tasks Running box displayed by
hitting the Ctrl-ALT-Del keys. This "X" closing routine was modified to
completely close the program. Several users had problems installing the updates over this
"improper closed" program until rebooting.
Version 1.0d, August 5, 1998
Added Option to VIEW Menu to display the Contest Revisions file (rev.txt).
Previous versions cleared the small display window when the call was entered. Removed the
screen clearing until the VP number is filled in (or something else is displayed.) This
will keep the display from the red buttons 10X or VP visible. Added support for the FCC
Index Files if present. The FCC Index Search Method will be up to 8 times faster, but does
require about 7.3 MB extra hard drive space. If hard drive space is available this is a
worthwhile addition. More about this Index File in the next update. Fixed error in the two
column log print routine (the 10X number in the 2nd column was a duplicate of the 10X in
the first column). Added to VIEW Menu option to display only the DX contacts on the log.
Version 1.0c, July 27, 1998
Added option if "Wrong 10X" message pops up, to return to log
entry or file QSO and edit later. Fixed using F1 to file QSO - first letter of next call
had to be typed twice. Added the 10X number to the XXIP display. Also for XXIP, if call
field is blank, then you can enter a 10X in the 10X field and get the XXIP info. Added
popup messages to remind to enable address databases on the Option "Path" menu
for those you desire to use. Changed menu icons at top to include the County Hunter
options, which will be activated as the County Hunter programming continues. Added this
file "rev.txt" to the Setup package.
Version 1.0b, July 18, 1998
Added option on Contest Setup Option Page to disable the F4 Key. One user
with "fat fingers" would hit F4 instead of F5 when playing the CQ message. Added
option on Contest Setup Option Page to make a line-by-line printout of each QSO as it is
being filed and Ctrl-F key to force a page print and form feed. See the Help file under
Contest Aids for more info. Fixed 3 point scoring routine certain conditions caused
US stations also to be scored as 3 points. Fixed DX stations in Database causing an Error
#9 if New 10X or New VP flag was activated. Fixed the F1 Key it was bringing up the
Help File after filing a QSO. Fixed wrong 10X number when double-clicking on a record in
the Database display for calls with a 10X number over 9999.
Version 1.0a, July 12, 1998
Added Print Label routine to print address labels from the FCC Database
and QSL labels. Fixed the log date routine so that it will be Y2K compatible. Added
program recognition for the second UserID file for Club Station or XYL. Put FCC Path into
the VE search. Wrote in traps if 10X is entered above 75000 and VP number above 3500. Same
traps also in Edit QSO Routine. Fixed Error 424 problem in Merge 2 Database routine.
